BEIJING - A liberal Chinese journal’s website was shut down Friday, it said, in the latest and most prominent example of a crackdown by Chinese authorities against online freedom of expression. The website of the Beijing-based Annals of the Yellow Emperor was closed days after it published an appeal for leaders to guarantee constitutional rights including freedom of speech and assembly. The publication, which has links with senior retired Communist officials, had argued in the article that China’s constitution lays out a road map for political reform. Closure of the Annals’ website follows censorship by the authorities of similar calls made by a key liberal newspaper.

, while several influential Chinese journalists have had their social networking accounts deleted in recent weeks. The crackdown comes despite pledges of change from China’s new Communist leadership, headed by president-in-waiting Xi Jinping, which has promised a more open style of governance since the ruling party’s congress in November.

There are reason why US is politically look "stable". The stories about how US government hunted down any rebellious citizens, "twisted" political activists or foreign intel agents in their soil are all over the internet. Not just US, I think any countries are not so different.

A free country like Taiwan......do you believe that we don't hunt down any communist sympathizer and other crazy activists? We are at the front line of the Cold War, since a huge communist country is sitting next at our border.

I don't believe that India allowed their citizen (including collaborating with foreigners), discussing and planning to overthrow the current government and establish another form of government. Or discussing idea for separatism.

Btw, I'm not fan of CCP. I just want to say, that is the reality worldwide, not just in China.

CCP is a communist, they hate and destroyed Chinese civilization thru oppression and later Cultural Revolution. A lot of Taiwanese hate them so much. The only reason why Taiwanese look on mainland China, not because of communist, but they look it as China, their motherland.

The communism is the biggest reason why Taiwanese hugely oppose unification.

If mainland China left the communism, renaming CCP and completely abandoned communism, restored Confucianism and Chinese civilization, that is the time for reunification. I'm looking and hope for it.

The present CCP is different from the beginnings when CCP was still in the early stage. How long has Taiwan been stagnant? Look at China now, it's expanding and developing fast. There's no real communism in today's China. Mao's policies and the communism did wreck China quite a lot but as you can see now it's going in the right direction. Blood brothers should reunite and we can only benefit from it.

the fact is even if China is not a ccp China some day in future,you still have no chance to be No.1 . look at singapore,taiwan,hongkong,Malaysia and other countries in which there are many Chinese,all economic better than yours .it is a cultural phenomenon,in which politics play a very small role.
