China Builds Strategic Qatar port
On 19 June 2007, Emir of the State of Qatar, issued Emiri Decree No. 37, setting forth the creation of one of the world's largest port developments.
Strategically located south of Doha, the USD 7.4 Billion mega port project, which includes a new port, a new base for the Qatar Emiri Naval Forces and the Qatar Economic Zone 3, will span a 26.5 square kilometer area.

Chinese company to construct first phase of USD 5.5 billion deepwater seaport
A $879 million contract is to be signed between Qatar and the China Harbour Engineering Company, for the construction of the $5.5 billion deep water port near the industrial city of Mesaieed, Qatar.
The contract, expected to be signed on Sunday, is for the first phase of the project where a 17 meter basin will be dug and a series of quays will be constructed.
