China breaks India’s internet monopoly in Nepal

Competition is good - no point keeping eggs in one basket. Nepal has every right to do what it wants.

. .
They are fairer than average Indians because Indians worship white skin. To be fair, some East Asian do as well. But you need to times that by a factor of 1000 to understand Indian obsession with skin color.

India had been able to cut off Nepal internet access. They won’t be able to now. This prevent further Indian bullying like how they did to Nepal a while ago.

“It starts when children are young. The moment a child is born, relatives start comparing siblings’ skin colour. It starts in your own family. But people don’t want to talk about it openly.”

The perfect life from perfect skin, a life that’s only bestowed upon those of the right shade – that’s the message, the attitude, the mindset that’s being passed down.

In India, these were codified in the caste system, the ancient Hindu classification in which birth determined occupation and social stratum. At the top, Brahmins were priests and intellectuals. At the bottom, outcastes were confined to the least-desired jobs, such as latrine cleaners. Bhatia says caste may have been to do with more than occupation: the darker you looked, the lower your place in the social hierarchy.

This preference for fair skin was perpetuated and strongly reinforced by colonialism, not just in India but in dozens of countries where a European power established its dominance. It’s the idea that the ruler is fair-skinned, says Emmanuel. “All around the world, it was a fact that the rich could stay indoors versus the poor who worked outside and were dark-skinned.”

Society reminded Kannan of it too. She is a professional dancer, and says, “The prettier, skinnier and fairer girls are positioned at the front of the stage. That gets to you.”

Arguably, nowhere is the fair skin preference as ingrained as in classified ads placed in newspapers seeking a marriage partner. Along with requirements for the prospective bride’s or groom’s caste, religion, profession and education, physical characteristics are listed too. Someone described as “dusky” may be skipped in favour of one who is of a “fair” complexion.

China kicked out India out of the subcontinent.

China is now the major power in the Subcontinent.

Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh, Srilanka, Maldives and Myanmar have all chosen China over India.

yes, having an option is always better.
Really wish China also gets an option when electing government.

Then you guys have an opportunity to break this monopoly also by using uyghurs who are muslims and also fair.
BTW, the movies of two Khans - Saif Ali Khan and Salman Khan are banned in Pakistan.
Because they are not our stars, they are Indians.

Service providers have said data use in Nepal has been increasing constantly with more people using social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter and communication platforms such as Viber, Messenger, WhatsApp and WeChat, especially to communicate with family members abroad.

I believe western worshiping is none other than chinese, when chinese leaders or youngsters hardly wear any Chinese tradition clothes either locally or in abroad.

We like to have a government that is capable of bringing results, Indians chose to have people from the same family, father, daughter and grandson running your country for decades, it won't happen in China. General election may end up choosing idiot like Trump into the office, Chinese leaders have to prove themselves through decades of hardworking and achievements starting from grass root level, they were chosen based on merits and productivity, not on beautiful promises, so you Indians just speak for yourselves, not worries about our political systems.

You are right about India but your boasting of your leaders bigger and better than Americans is simply laughable.

Americans have some of the finest leaders a country could ask for unlike Mao killing sparrows.

Anyway at the topic.

Business is better with competitors. Btw Indians which SP operates in Nepal?

Mao was an exception, he was not chosen, he fought and won a war over China. He founded PRC. Those after him were chosen leaders based on the selection structure he built within the party, those leaders served China very well and that's why China is here from being one of the poorest place on this planet half a century ago. Indians always smear China's political system, that's why I say you better check on yours first and see what it brought you.

You need to know basics of debate. “I” didnt say I smear China’s political system. And why would I?

I was just questioning your logic of US having “inferior “ leaders and according to you only your leaders prove themselves before assuming their rein. Which is an ignorant statement.

I didn't say those things, what I said is how Chinese system works just in case you don't know and why people like Trump can never be chosen in China. Indians here always bring up Chinese political and social system on PDF to ridicule, but the truth is it works fine for China and our system is none of your business and why you guys care that much?

8 Indian states = 25 African nations: Oxford study on poverty

There are 1.6 billion people living in multidimensional poverty across the world and nearly 440 million of them are in eight large Indian states, according to a new analysis using a unique index developed at the University of Oxford.

The eight Indian states that have similar number of poor as in 25 African countries are Bihar, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Chattisgarh, Odisha, Rajasthan and West Bengal. The poorest region in south Asia is Bihar, the analysis states.

In 2010, the Oxford analysis had concluded that there were more poor in India than in sub-Saharan Africa. Its 2014 analysis said the largest number of people classified as ‘destitute’ among developing countries was in India.

Sabina Alkire, director of the Oxford Poverty and Human Development Initiative, told Hindustan Times on Thursday that the least poor Indian states according to the global Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI) in 2015 remained the same as in the 2010 analysis.

They are: Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Mizoram, Goa and Delhi.

The 2015 analysis is based on the last available data from India, Alkire said, and added that as per poverty estimation of seven south Asian countries, Afghanistan is the poorest, followed by India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Nepal, Bhutan and Sri Lanka.

“Our measure of destitution, which identifies a subset of poor people as destitute if they experience a number of extreme deprivations like severe malnutrition, losing two children, having all primary-aged school children out of school, and using open defecation,” she said.

The destitution results for South Asia “are significant”, Alkire said. Afghanistan has the highest rate of destitution of 38%, followed by India at a “troubling” 28.5% (over 340 million people).

“But interestingly Bangladesh has much lower rate of destitution than either Nepal or Pakistan, showing that the country has alleviated the worst forms of deprivations,” she added.

“As the UN prepares to adopt 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) this September, which will determine the development agenda for the next 15 years, our findings serve as a powerful reminder of the extent of poverty reduction challenge ahead and the need for an energetic and coordinated response,” Alkire said.

The MPI is unique in capturing the simultaneous disadvantages experienced by poor people, such as malnutrition, education and sanitation, to provide a high-resolution lens on their lives. If people are deprived in one-third or more of ten (weighted) indicators, they are identified as MPI-poor.

I for sure don’t want to get into those arguments unless you make one that gets my attention so when you speak to me be specific and China can can go to heaven or hell its none of my business unless you are encroaching my territory. Sleep well.
