not sure that's a correct statement, most people in China could care less about Bollywood. Make more money in China than your own country? For a couple movies, maybe, and that's because your Indian market is so small, $100 money made in china is still more than $2 you indian can afford spend watching your own movies, yet $100 sales in China is still pretty crappy compare to the Chinese movies.

Many foreigners look Kungfu movies, I believe Bruce Lee and Jackies Chan are are more famous than any Indian movie stars ever worldwide. besides, even only the Chinese watching Chinese movie is good enough, as we are the biggest movie market in the world and keep growing fast.

Chinese market active during Lunar New Year and National Day (Which is somewhere January/February and October) Hollywood active during independence day weekend (July) and Christmas (December)

If you compare quarter to quarter, there are some discrepancy between each quarter, and also, I am pretty sure the article have discounted or ignore the latest hit Avenger : The infinite war because it was only opened in April 27 when the report tally the total of 1st quarter 2018. There are not much big release in Hollywood during Q1 traditionally.

I think before Avenger come along, the best performing film opened in Q2 2018 is A Quiet Place, which only gross a modest 150 millions. On the other hand, Rampage opened in US in April and earn 80 millions, compare to opening in China earning 120 millions, Black Panther is another movie earning 600 millions in North America and 110 millions in China.

lol...….I don't think there will be a time China will leave North America in the dust....Unless there are some changes to Chinese Movie industry.

You are talking about a traditional strong Chinese opening period win over (which I am not sure if you count Avenger war as well, then it would not be the case) Hollywood. When Hollywood still have at least 7 highly hyped movie coming out later.

Deadpool 2, Jurassic World : Fallen Kingdom, The Incredibles 2 and Aquaman (And a few Disney Project I forgot about) yet to come up. And you are opening the cork and started to celebrate??

Then there are already a few Big Chinese release already out.

Chinatown Detective 2 - 541 Millions (lunar new year)
Monster Hunt 2 - 356 Millions (Again, Lunar new year)
Ex File - 320 Millions (New Year 2018) ,
Operation Red Sea - 575 Millions (Lunar New Year again)

On the other hand, Hollywood have 1 big name dropped in Q1

Black Panther - 680 millions (Feb)

Hopefully, the CBO can gross more than Hollywood this year, but it looks unlikely with the breakout hits of Black Panther and Avengers Infinity War.

Impossible this year even without Black Panther. The worldwide market is over $40B. China's International presence is minimal and the movie release schedule dates for all of 2018 are set. Everything is done well in advance.
