China BOE Group successfully developed large OLED panels and Korean industry is very nervous
Observer Network 2018-11-29 14:57:28
[Observer Network] According to the Korea Economic Daily reported on November 28, industry sources said that China's largest panel maker BOE has successfully developed a 55-inch 4K OLED display panel using inkjet printing technology. This makes the Korean panel companies represented by the LG show very nervous.
Compared with the existing vacuum coating, inkjet printing technology can effectively reduce the production cost of large OLEDs, and is a new generation technology. LG shows that it has been preparing for inkjet printing technology a few years ago. Samsung Display also plans to use inkjet printing technology in the QD-OLED production line.
BOE has used inkjet printing technology to produce 17-inch OLED panels since 2012. It has successfully adopted this technology for the first time in six years to develop large-scale OLEDs, and is also investing in mass production of OLED panels. This will have an impact on the current leader in the OLED market.
Chinese companies have mastered most of the LCD market, and after having the technology and actual production capacity of large-scale OLED panels, they will also launch a storm on the OLED market. According to the analysis, as a TV consumer, if China achieves self-sufficiency in OLED panels, it will be a fatal blow to Korean manufacturers.
