China bans for-profit school tutoring

Wrong. Maslow's triangle stipulates the best worker is a happy worker. This is why Henry Ford's workers were so productive.

:stop:
How does this relate to entrepreneurs who aren't interested in being "picked or selected" by anyone? Not everybody in the world feels a dependency to work for others.
Selected by universities through Gaokao( college entrance examination) scores.

.
1, China has high quality public education system. Which guarantees students to get high quality education without any extra tutoring.
2, The purpose of education is cultiving talents and selecting talents. Real talented will be selected only if all students receive same education.

isn't this so Chinese only get the state sponsored education ? so basically more brain washing

Did they worked for free?
Now you blame the US for this? Unreal.
Of course it is US fault. If the US and Americans were not successful capitalists and democrats, China would not have abandoned communism and would not face this problem today. So it our 'fault'. Duh...Whatsamatta you?

I don't know about this. The amount of money poured into the for profit tutoring did produce results. Sure it was unfair but it also produces some truly elite talent. So unless there's a massive increase in money for public education, those elite talent might disappear.

So is there no way now for parents who want to spend money to give their kids a leg up in class?

It produced some great results. Rich people will always find a way around ban. A tutor just may help a student from an average family to reach full potential.

I don't. I think as long as authorities do not interfere with simple tutoring it should be all fine. I know some in my extended family here in the USA spend money on tutors.

school in China starts at 7:30 AM - 1:00 PM, starts again at 2:00 to 4:30 PM, then mandatory self study session after dinner 6:00 - 7:30 PM. some people have even longer.

in comparison in the US: 7:45 AM - 12 PM, 12:50 PM - 3:00 PM, done. maybe 3:15-4:30 if you're on a sports team, academic club or AP class.

you tell me, how much more schooling is needed? you really need tutors? the only thing tutors do is add more to the burden and teach stupid test prep tricks that have no other value.

There should be no private education.

Media, banking, telecommunications and education should be firmly under government control. These are the 4 areas the foreign vultures are looking to control China with using privatisation of these sectors.

You cannot eradicate one to one tuition.

With or without one to one tuition, the elites can go almost any universities they want. They just donate a few millions to Harvard. Or they just ask Mr Ma Yun write them a commendation letter.

From this point of view, the urban middle class does not compete directly with elites for a college slot.

Enrichment program will have an effect of raising urban student IQ, but put big disadvantage to rural students.

For the good of entire nation, it is probably worth to reduce the urban student IQ a little, to equalize the education opportunities.

The Gao Kao exam based meritocracy should be preserved as far as possible. Draconian learning must be preserved as far as possible,

US holistic admission is way of national suicide.

This will normalized urban middle class and village -- while enlarging gaps between urban middle class and elites.

The super rich and elites always hire top professors as one to one tutor.

Not possible to ban one to one tuition.

The elites don’t even need college entrance exams. They can simply go abroad for a college degree and even if it is in something useless, he could still inherit his parents’ business. Unless you do Mao style purges of the ultra rich there is no way around this, and the last thing anyone wants is Mao style purges.

That is right. But having a elite college degree will have them a hell of more of legitimacy to do things in public.

Without an Yale degree, Bush will be some intoxicated and hyper-sex dandy. People will look down on him and if every elites scion behave in such way, entire nation will despise elite class.

Bush Junior cant stand for president.

Elite class are smart. They will think of every single way to prove their scions are hardworking and high IQ. They will put their one or two scions in public office for looting the public,

In fact elites scions are the most corrupt and evil people everywhere. There need to be restrain.

And if possible subject them a exam base admission where most will likely get very low grade. Hence deprive them a halo, and reveal their true color. Unfortunately most nations are not able to do that.

When the tutoring industry disappears, most experienced teachers will not do that work. One to one tuition market is too small and scattered to be a formal career. Only suitable for college students as their part time work. Which won't bring much change.

From current information, art tuition may not be banned

.
But a side effect is, if the there is a clan of elite that is able to produce hardworking and discipline scion for thousands of years, like the Qian family, then the people will have no weapon against their hegemony.

They can hire one to one professors for tuition.

Before the urban middle class can still catch up due to enrichment class.

These families rule thousands of years in a oligarch system.
