China and the US hold joint naval exercise for the first time in the Atlantic Ocean

.
China and United States behave like two mature civilization states, and know the importance to cooperate even though there are conflicts of interests somewhere else. This is completely different from China-Vietnam and China-Japan relations. Those two countries are dominated by extreme nationalization. The relations always swing from one extreme to another extreme.

As the most secular civilizations in this planet. we may see more and more collaborations among Chinese and Anglo-Saxon people. The relations between China and England, Australia, Canada and New Zealand are at their best. Soon United States may follow after giving up its hegemony goal.

The world and global strategies are complex. Enemies in South China Sea:guns: and friends :smitten:in Atlantic .....wow uncle sam :hitwall::hitwall:

China and the US are the players in two-man's game in Asia-Pacific. The rest are merely pieces on the board. They can be kept still, moved sideways, or sacrificed.

The players do not change. The players never take on each other directly. That's the nature of the game.

Globally, it is Eurasia vs. Atlantic and one of the main battle-grounds is Syria.

LOL ... maybe the two "sworn enemies" in the Pacific suddenly find common interests in the Atlantic!
If the growing PLA Navy becomes big enough to populate both the Atlantic Ocean and Pacific Ocean, USA will feel uncomfortable enough to consider your country as an "enemy" in the Atlantic Ocean region as well.

China is trying to win more time to the room of the development.

Russia will also apply this strategy as only the proxy wars going on Syria and Ukraine, but Russia is also pretending to seek the negotiation with the US.

China and US are likely to gang up on Japan once the US realizes that Japan has gone rogue
Japan and the USA are far too friendly with each other to oppose Japan's rogue actions in this present time. I hardly see Washington criticize little of anything on Japanese actions this year.

It is always one or two notch higher between great powers such as Russia, US and China.

An exercise does not make ally or enemy, I wish some of our friends who jump at every instance of military cooperation would understand this.

At least an exercise will be used to help de-escalate tensions a bit and an opportunity to observe/study each other like you would against an opponent/adversary.

Just only one PLA navy ship? Destroyer-class right?
China side: 1x type052C DDG, 1x type054A FFG, 1x Ocean supply ship
U.S side: 2x Burke DDG, 1x Ticonderoga Cruise

As the domestic economy and external trade of pan-Atlantic countries (Western Africa, South/Latin America) continue to grow, demand for protection maritime trade routes will also rise. It would be useful to build logistical bases to support maritime security in the Atlantic. China already has a satellite tracking station in Swakopmund of Namibia (China Telemetry, Tracking and Command Station, which opened in 2001, tracks the re-entry of Chinese manned space vehicles), so Walvis Bay seems like a suitable location.
