It might be "Protection Aid" to save more Chinese getting killed.We know very well how this kidnapping mafia works in Pakistan specially in Karachi these days.

I hope the money is put in to best use for developing your economy and does not get pumped back to the defence industry or back to China to import more weapons.

This might be a pinch but nothing like the Punch which you feel when we support AFG even if it's just for development leave aside military aid.

What suits India is that Pakistan should be given just enough aid that it neither collapses, nor are they forced to mend their ways.

India was a beneficiary of similar assistance not too long ago, sure Pakistan appears to be circling the drain today but is it inconceivable that they will recover just like India did?

The money from the US is administered by US officials and aid agencies and is being invested in education, helping people learn a trade, small businesses, infrastructure, energy and health. This investment will take a few years to generate returns for the people of Pakistan. Doubtless it will happen to your dismay.

Well...to some extent it is much harder for Pakistan to recover because Pakistan is not just stuck economically, the whole society has been very radicalized in the last decade.

Changing Balance of Payments and starting to export more is one thing, how do you change people who want to kill others because they are from a different faith or from a different sect of the same faith. This happens when the Society(Pakistan) glorify acts of jehad in their text books and glorify acts of violence based on which they form their heroes.

India did not have this problem at such a magnitude.

That said, you are right that the investment USA Is putting in Pakistan will bear returns after few years. And I am not very dismayed at the thought - right now Pakistan is teetering on the verge of a collapse - and that is very bad for India.

What I want or rather what is in India's interest is to have a Pakistan boiling at the right temperature while India forges ahead economically.

Don't worry once Gwadar port is operational, and rail-link to Kashgar is completed, then Pakistan will have a good transit fee for any oil and merchandise transit. And with further pipeline link to Afganistan and central Asia, Paksitan people will laugh at money fallen from sky...it's not without basis that Pakistan is call pipekistan...just wait and see, we chineses are so glad to have such friend
