China again lands planes on disputed island in South China Sea: Xinhua

We are so fortunate to have three important outpost and base to control our national water. One is in Hainan. A strategically vital to our base to keep a check on Hanoi. It is also a large land mass separating from the mainland. And just a few hundred miles away is the Woody Island. Now we got 7 major land mass deep in the SCS to project power in our national water. Basically our logistics got more lethal.

World protests against China’s test flights to disputed East Sea

Hanoi (VNA) – China’s landing of two civilian planes on an illegally-built runway in the Chu Thap (Fiery Cross) reef, in Vietnam’s Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelago on January 6, has sparked protests in the region, and the world.

In a joint news conference with British Foreign Secretary, Philip Hammond, in Manila on January 7, his Filipino counterpart Albert del Rosario, said such a move would be "unacceptable”, and expressed his worry that with the test flights, China was laying the groundwork for the declaration of an Air Defence Identification Zone (ADIZ), similar to the one it declared in the East China Sea, according to Reuters.

Hammond, for his part, urged rival governments to avoid provocative steps and affirmed that freedom of navigation and overflight in the East Sea is non-negotiable.

The UK will continue to assert its right to sail in the area, he said.

Following China’s first test flight to the reef on January 2, Japanese Foreign Minister, Fumio Kishida, expressed his grave concern about China's act, which he said, is a unilateral change of the status quo in the region and an attempt to make Beijing's massive and fast-paced land reclamation work in the disputed seas a “fait accompli”.

Japan cannot accept this act which is escalating tensions in the region, and is a concern shared by the international community, Kishida said. "Japan will continue to cooperate with other countries concerned with protecting the freedom of the seas."

On January 4, the US declared that flight operations at this new airfield in a disputed area raises tensions and threatens regional stability, and worries that Beijing plans to use them for military purposes, even though China says it has no hostile intent.

On January 7, Vietnamese Foreign Ministry’s spokesman, Le Hai Binh, said China’s action is a violation of Vietnam’s sovereignty, a threat to peace and stability in the region, as well as maritime and aviation security, safety, and freedom in the East Sea.

Vietnam resolutely asks China to immediately stop similar actions that violate Vietnam’s sovereignty over the Truong Sa archipelago, respect relevant international law, and refrain from escalating and complicating the dispute, Binh said.

Vietnam will firmly safeguard its sovereignty, sovereign and jurisdictional rights in the East Sea by peaceful means, in accordance with the United Nations Charter and international law, he added.-VNA

More airports in SCS are coming up. The ”World" will have to get used to it, or get pissed. :partay:

If an island can be proven habitable a nation can substantially expand it's claim to surrounding territorial waters. A People's Liberation Army soldier poses

She can come and inspect Senkakus anytime she wants, bro. JMSDF guys would surrender to that smile..hahahaha ;)

the government of vietnam needn´t my advice. when we build houses, they will last for 100 years. at least.
while chinese built houses, how long they will last: max 20 years as some reports how? cheap quality does not last long, you know. a typhoon will wash all of them away. I pity the poor souls.

Bro, Made in Vietnam has no quality.

.
u mean the whole island was made, in the open ocean ??? is it possible ???
Beijingwalker is right. The islands are literally built FROM NOTHING. That's why the Chinese members are so excited to see the islands be emerged in such a short period of time.

Here are some old pictures of the South China Sea islands taken in 1980s'.

To give you a better feeling of the pace of the island construction, here is the picture of Fiery Cross Reef, the one that we see the large Boeing/Airbus planes landing and taking off this week.

Then, how many of your houses reached 100 years now? :-)
such houses in the city of hoi an were built in the 16-17 century. and today people are still living in. many are children from their forefathers who built the houses 400 years ago.

China plane landings in South China Sea raise tensions – US
A Department of Defense spokesman says 3 civilian flights are believed to have landed on one of the islands, corroborating Chinese state media reports that 3 civilian aircraft landed on Fiery Cross reef in the disputed Spratlys island group.

WASHINGTON, DC, USA – China's recent landing of aircraft on a contested reef in the South China Sea is raising tensions and promoting instability in the region, the Pentagon warned Thursday, January 7.

A Department of Defense spokesman said 3 civilian flights are now believed to have landed on one of the islands, corroborating Chinese state media reports that 3 civilian aircraft have landed on Fiery Cross reef in the disputed Spratlys island group.

"We clearly are concerned by these flights... and we're concerned by all of these activities being conducted by the Chinese in disputed islands in the South China Sea," Pentagon spokesman Peter Cook told reporters.

"Anything being done by any country to try and raise tensions over these disputed islands, and to try and militarize or engage in reclamation activities in these islands, we think only adds to instability in the South China Sea."

China claims virtually all of the South China Sea, while the Philippines, Vietnam, Malaysia, Brunei and Taiwan also have partial claims.

China has asserted its claim by rapidly building artificial islands, including airstrips said to be capable of hosting military jets.

"We call for a diplomatic resolution to these issues in the South China Sea and certainly these flights do nothing to foster further stability and understanding in that part of the world," Cook said.

China's initial aircraft landing on Saturday prompted a formal diplomatic complaint from Hanoi, which labelled it a violation of sovereignty.

The Philippines also said it would file a protest. – Rappler.com

Without reclaimation of China on corel reefs stolen from Vietnam in SCS, there is no tension in region.

without your country's massive occupation of the territories and oil drilling there should not be any tension

There is island groupe of Vietnam from longtime ago, without troubles with China in the past. China KMT claimed illegally only recently 1948.
