China abandons “zero cause” policy after the riots

LOL, that's BS! China is the only country that is still fighting COVID, the rest of world has long been given up and opened legs for COVID and almost everyone has been already infected, 94% in the US and that's with "Western Vaccine" .

Are you blaming China's "stupid" Zero Covid policy for your stupid 80% inflation? :cheesy:
I said "global inflation", moron! The causes and solution of inflation in Turkiye should be sought in Turkiye, not in China. I know that truth too. The chronic energy deficit, Turkiye's inability to produce enough added value, and being in a geography where there is constant war are the main causes of inflation in Turkiye.

As for your "war" with Covid-19, it's an unwinnable war. No one can bear the economic cost of this, including China. The most viable strategy is to vaccinate nation's vulnerable segments and allow relatively harmless versions of the virus, such as the omycron variant, to spread. This is a kind of vaccination also.

They buy to China because China manufactures cheaper.

Just one recent example: mRNA vaccines are USA technology.

The same with expensive luxury items, like cars, airplanes, electronic devices and so on.

Anyway, even without the economic part, USA is militarily strong enough to nobody wants to make troubles to them.

EU (with the exception of France) is not strong, EU will be collapsed, likely, in the next years, and living standards will decrease to African level. That will solve any world economic problems due to shortage of raw materials or energy in the next decades.
And you think US can go back to made in USA for most american without hyper inflation?

You cannot build Rome a single day. Same as decades of manufacturing Industries settle in China. You think USA can suddenly complete the supply chain in just few days, few weeks or even few months?

If USA can really manufacture whatever they want. They would beg TSMC to come USA to help or teach them how to make 3nm chips.

I guess you answered your question very well.

Decoupling is becoming a trend. And, now, unlike the Trump era, it is becoming a global narrative. Do you think this will amount to nothing?

It took decades for China to achieve this status. It will take time to reverse the dependency, but it will likely be much quicker than the time China managed it with hard work and sacrifice.

The President who elected himself for the third term is destroying all those gains almost singlehandedly and too much nationalism or self-interest might be blinding many.

I believe China has guaranteed middle income trap. It would be lucky if it does not fall backwards into huge income disparity and poverty again. 20% youth unemployment is not a joke.

It needs to readopt its former policies of reform, opening up, inner-Party democracy, term limit, Globalization rather than isolationist dual-circulation, tech-entrepreneur freedom, a certain media-social media freedom, and peaceful rise.

I believe this was the demand of those who went to streets last week.

You should blame high global inflation on US Fed monetary policy, or Russian-Ukrain war, why you blamed China for its zero-covid policy? Barking at wrong tree. China doesn't have the inflation problem. why should it care, especially at the expense of its citizens life?

Define "unwinnable war". Is saving millions of lives considered a win? China will gradually ease its covid policy, but the change will be in accordance with China's own interest, as far as I know, the priority is protecting Chinese people's life especially those older less healthy people among whom the vaccination rate is still low, not according to global inflation number. I don't believe "Western Vaccine" is a miracle remedy, otherwise, 1.1 millon Americans should not have died.

And sure.

Good luck then

It won't happen though, it's just the false narrative you pushed to legitimise the lockdown for the last year

You are the one who claimed death of millions. Forgot your own statement?

What the West is doing to Huawei or the Chinese semiconductor industry has nothing to do with the Covid-19 vaccine. The West will suffer if the disease is allowed to spread uncontrollably in China. Therefore, they do not cause problems with vaccination. Each case should be judged on its own terms.

Let Xi Jinping stop bullshit and get China people vaccinated with western vaccines immediately, and abandon this ridiculous "zero case" policy. Otherwise, global inflation will not be controlled.
China doesnt need western vaccines, period, stop the western propaganda BS of their superiority.

And sure.

Who cares about Japan, neither Russia too.

I am against decoupling as much as over-reliance.

Many see that government in China used the pandemic as a pretext to de-globalize, reverse the opening up process while geopolitically utilize the advantages of the world's reliance on China as a source of production.

It was bound to be noticed and backfire. China itself managed what Trump failed to do. Globalization in Chinese characteristics in which goods freely move yet people and ideas are blocked would certainly generate a backlash.

You have to care about global inflation, because global customers with reduced purchasing power won't buy Chinese goods, which will hurt China. You haven't built "Great Wall of China in the Oceans" yet, and there won't be that wall in the foreseeable future! So you are not isolated from the World.

On the other hand, global inflation is not caused by you, you are 200% right about this. Those who caused this, namely the USA and Russia, will pay the price for this in the very near future. Russia will face the costs of its war. The USA, on the other hand, will face the consequences of the dollar losing its reserve currency status.

But at the end of the day, the global inflation problem needs to be resolved. And a China that cannot return to production due to its "zero case" strategy cannot contribute to the World's fight against inflation.

China abandons “zero cause” policy after the riots

December 12 2022

The World Health Organization today welcomed the easing of the anti-strategy Corona virus disease in Chinaafter angry protests against Beijing’s zero-issue policy.

“We are glad to know that the Chinese authorities are adapting their current strategy and are already trying now to expand the measures to control this virus that are essential to life, livelihoods and human rights,” he said. Dr. Michael RyanHead of the WHO Emergencies Program during the regular press conference in Geneva.

Chinese anger over the hardline health line to fight the epidemic spilled over last weekend, with prof Mobilization on a scale not seen in decades.

The authorities responded quickly by increasing the police presence and stepping up monitoring of social media.

At the same time, many cities have begun to ease restrictions, such as abandoning mass daily tests that are one of the pillars of dull life under the coronavirus. No Covid case policywhich has been in effect for nearly three years.

Today, the Chinese president Xi Jinping – who enforced the zero Covid policy – argued that the “Omicron” variant of the virus, which is less deadly, allows for “more flexibility” in restrictions.

Dr. Ryan insisted that the unprecedented infection Omicron variant The virus has largely rendered the zero Covid policy, which might have been able to work in earlier variants or even the original strain, largely meaningless.

“It’s really hard to stop this and it’s slipping through your fingers very quickly,” he said, adding, “We have to try to protect the most vulnerable. When we can’t stop a fire, we keep away from people. The way to keep people away from fire in this situation is to vaccinate them.” “.

For his part, the Director-General of the World Health Organization said, Dr. Tedros Andanum GebreggsHe again warned of the continuing danger of a pandemic that has not yet ended. “We are much closer to being able to say that the emergency phase of the pandemic is over, but we are not there yet,” he said during the press conference. He warned that “gaps in surveillance, testing, contact tracing, and vaccination continue to create ideal conditions for the emergence of a new and worrisome variant.”

Some sense has prevailed at last.
It was a crazy policy, and America was milking it quietly, increasing its influence, and providing increasingly negative coverage.
This should lay the basis for a pushback.
