Judges appointed under collegium system, complain of workload and lack of judges when they can't get their sons and daughters appointed as judges. But, they have no issue 16 day long Christmas holiday. No Vacation batch, to work during holidays, fully closed. All, judges appointed by Collegium system are on leave, with 70,000+ cases pending.
Pre-independence British Judges used to visit their homes in England during Christmas vacation, its continued till now for some reason. American Federal court Christmas holiday is only for 1 day, British courts only 3 days, even then courts are never closed, always a vacation batch keeps working.
In, US and UK courts date of judgement is declared on the same day cases reach the court. Indian Collegium system judges don't bother declaring date of judgement. Indian Supreme court Judges never sit in their seat on their own in court, there is special person who seats them.
Even with 72000 cases pending, Only 190 working days in Supreme court, rest are holidays. Even in those 190 working days, reporting time of Collegium Judges is `10am, 1 to 2pm lunch, 2 to 4pm court time. After 4pm, judges sit in their chambers and play politics, whose son or relative will be appointed as next judge via Collegium system. Most Collegium System Judges can't give a judgement even after 20 court sessions.
Collegium system judges also get, 44 days summer holidays, 5 day work week, even on working days, actual work time is only for few hours.
Collegium System came in 1993. PM Narasimha Rao was the law minister in 1993, while
@KapilSibal was the lawyer arguing in favour of the collegium system in the Supreme Court. Sibal also opposed OBC quota in 2006. He later became HRD/Law minister in UPA2.

Former Chief Justice of India Justice Ranganath Mishra formed the nine-judge bench to hear the Second Judges Case. Post retirement, Mishra was appointed as the first chairman of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC). Later on, he was nominated to the Rajya Sabha.
Mishra headed another commission during the UPA government for examining the claims of Christian and Muslim minorities for inclusion in Scheduled Castes, which shows they remained in the good book of the Congress party.
