Chhattisgarh: Martyred cops' bodies ferried in garbage truck

Coffins of four personnel of Chhattisgarh Police, killed in a Maoist ambush on Sunday night in Dantewada district, were carried in a municipality garbage dumping truck for the guard of honour ceremony a day after.

Ironically, the last journey of the martyrs took place in the -filled carrier as their bodies wrapped in the tricolour were ferried in the "only available vehicle", admitted the state police on Tuesday. Moreover, nobody cared to clean up the truck belonging to the local municipal body.

The bodies had been fetched from Patel Para jungles in the truck a day after the policemen - Lakshman Bhagat, Alsan Ekka and Bhushan Marawi and a town inspector - were killed in a landmine blast.

The relatives who assembled to take possession of the bodies were shocked at the attitude of the police officials. The insult to the martyrs also puts a question mark on crores of rupees being spent on anti-Naxal drives.

Hindus ( which these men most likely were) and Sikhs are cremated so burial is not an option.

what a travesty these brave men died for the motherland and their dead bodies are taken away in a garbage truck? for gods sake at least have the decency to transport the dead in a ambulance or some kind of vehicle that takes them to the morgue or crematory not a garbage truck that still has its dirty load in it who ever ordered there bodies being taken away in a garbage truck should be fired

Am I surprised? Nope! These are cops, for crying out loud! Perhaps if they were shown a couple of crisp hundred rupee notes, they would have arranged a proper vehicle to transport the martyrs. Jeeez! What could the BJP do? They didn't even know this was happening.
