Noting shameful. Engine development is not an easy project and in fact the hardest part of the whole gamut of technologies required to manufacture a plane. It will take time and money. We just have to wait.

J-10 can't get into massive production because all engines need to be imported from russia and each deal is subject to a lengthy negotiation + big $$$. this fact directly caused the issue that when it comes to real conflict, J-10 won't be the number one choice for the PLAAF as the supplies are just out of your control. ironically, the J-11B which is "copied" from russia su-27 which has twin engine (two WS-10a) is already for massive production.

It is shameful because Chinese made a pretty big mistake that no serious engine R&D happened in the 60s/70s. same for the transport aircraft - we just sit there for a few decades and failed to realise the importance.

anyway, according to the tradition of the CCTV, such images were released for a reason, I believe they put it on TV because it is a new J-10 factory - you don't put a 15 years old J-10 factory on TV 10 years after J-10's first test flight.
