India wrestler Narsingh Yadav has been slapped a four-year ban by CAS following an appeal by WADA. The ban, starting today, means Narsingh will not be able to participate at the Rio 2016 Olympics. He was scheduled to commence his campaign against France’s Zelimkhan Khadjiev.


His Excuse : He was "targeted" by mysterious force
No really this is the excuse he gave to Indian federation before flying to Rio that someone planted the dope , and Indian federation allowed him to continue, accepting his "excuse"

International Sports body !!! STEPPED in and sent the doping Master back home Handed him a nice 4 YEAR BAN

Normal Indian Medal winner in Olympics back many many years ago

What sequence this is breaking news just was announced 30 minutes ago , then I found out he was found cheating in India , and then Indian federation still allowed him to come to Olympics

International Sports comission did not agree with Indian federation and slapped a hefty Ban and disgraceful exit from Olympics

His seat could have been taken by a "none doping athlete"

Like who sends their Athletes to Olympics once knowing he has dope in his body ?

This story is so Bizzare !!!

No surprises here, they banned him on the day his fight was scheduled, while India could had him replaced earlier. Its been hard time for India at Rio already due to tough draws which meant no or less silvers/bronze.

Yes it was true that he was found +ve in India. But on inquiry it was found that his food was spiked by his rivals. There was a debate in India whether to send him or not. Eventually he was send as majority wanted him to go knowing fully that he has a slender chance. BTW what about reply to my last line?

The Court of Arbitration for Sport's anti-doping agency has removed Indian wrestler Narsingh Yadav from the Rio Olympics and given him a four-year suspension.

Yadav had originally escaped a ban over two positive tests earlier this year for the banned substance methandienone after India's national anti-doping agency accepted his explanation ???? that his food or drink had been tampered with.

However, the World Anti-Doping Agency disagreed and filed an appeal to CAS, which ruled that there was "no evidence" to support Yadav's claim of sabotage.

Yadav had been due to compete Friday in the men's 74-kilogram freestyle class.

Official statistics accessed by TOI underline a far more disturbing trend — Indian sports is a cesspool of doping-related offences.

An alarming number of 687 athletes have been banned for doping-related offences since January 1, 2009, an average of 100 athletes being banned every year, as per National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) records.
