Its a common sense wali baat.

Gwadar needs much more investment. It was just a patch of sand a little while ago.

Cost of building basic infra like power plant, airport and a decent 6 lane highway along with a railway will cost more than $40 billion. Not to mention an entire civil infra throughout Gwadar town.
Power supply lines, transformers etc. A huge list which Chabahar essentially has.

India is upgrading Chabahar so we don't need billions.
China is building an entire infrastructure from a bottom to top approach.

Any pakistani company shifting production to Gwadar?

Okay so you are saying Balochistan is a calm and friendly place?
Would you be willing to invest $100000 to set up a small factory there?

Or would you rather spend $100k in a more secure location like Chabahar?

It next door and zilch security concerns.

What would an ordinary businessman do?
You talk like you have been there,we are from Pakistan and we know more than you about Balochistan so dont spit your BS here,Ask chinese that they are stupid enough to invest billions there..!

.
To Indians:

It invested 40-50 billion dollars in Gawadar to use the port for active use, no backup for China for the carriage of oil. China is as gentle a country the size of 60 countries in European size. China is a huge market and will keep the port in time. Everything from oil, gas, goods and passenger are intended for use by this port. Also Afghans, tadjikere, Kyrgyz, Uzbekere, Turkmen, Kazakhere are interested in using this port, it has also emerged in Bilateral meetings between Pakistani leaders and the leaders of the Central Asian fraternal countries.

Iran is a brotherly country. We want Iran all good. If your port blomstrere pleasures too. A large portion of the Afghan population traveling back and forth to Pakistan and live along our border. It takes a lot for these goes to another port.

For Indian usage is the Iranian port in a good solution. India is a big market, you need your own haven. Gawadar is charged enough with Pakistani, Chinese, Afghan, tadikiske, Kirghiz and uzbekiske customers

China will import goods through Gwadar?

Do you know basics of logistics? The cost to transport goods via land from Gwadar to say Beijing will be several times higher than shipping till China coast.

Same goes in reverse for shipping to Europe.

Land shipping is far more expensive than sea shipping.

You talk like you have been there,we are from Pakistan and we know more than you about Balochistan so dont spit your BS here,Ask chinese that they are stupid enough to invest billions there..!

As i said before more than just $40 billion is needed for Gwadar.

@Otocal And China/Pak will invest it,you dont need to worry about Gwadar

. . .
This damn f-ing thread is about 1 question

Suppose you were a businessman, which port would you invest in?

Answer is Chabahar anyway you analyse the situation

How much will Pak invest?
AS much as we can do,now stop being Finance and Foreign Minister of both China and Pak,[/quote]

I would sooner suicide than be finance minister of pakistan.

Please lets debate on the topic of this thread.

Suppose you were a businessman, which port would you invest in?

Not a govt. just a businessman.

Gwadar currently has no hotels.

Chabahar has hotels, luxury beaches etc.

.
OK @indians+iranians, Chabahar is a great Port..it will serve more than Gwadar while Gwadar is a stupid project bcz Chinese are very stupid to invest close to 40 billion dollars in Gwadar Project...CASE CLOSED NOW...
What's the reason for such a madness, dude?
Chabahar and Gwadar are just two ports, and considering the increasing potential and strategic importance of this region in the near future, even 20 more major ports wouldn't be enough either.
It's just a discussion to show the potentials of these projects for any individual investor to become more familiar with the situation.
That's all.
No need to be this much angry, man.

.
But then it's India, the convenient whipping boy of Pakistan, which is to blame for this and the mess that Pakistan is in. This is getting to be silly.

Said by an Indian conveniently whipping Pakistan.

Some people think Chinese investment is the only thing that matters in the world.

On the ground reality, logistics possibility. operational compatibility along safety and security are all pushed to the side. :welcome::pdf:

How about looking at this rationally rather than through a green lens?

If someone wants to export goods to Pakistan will he send through Karachi or Gwadar?
From Gwadar it will have to travel more on land. Higher transport costs.

If someone based in Pakistan wants to export goods to say ME. Factory based in Punjab/Sindh. Will he pay the extra bucks for the trucker till Gwadar? Distance to Karachi will be less.

What is the trade potential? If someone wants to sell goods in Balochistan. I don't think its even a $1 billion industry for finished goods.

Suppose I am an Iranian investor, I know many things about Chabahar potentials and I am supposed to learn such information about Gwadar project from Pakistani people here.
So instead of getting emotional, just try to represent the capabilities of your favored option, and let others like me to decide for their best.
Are we cool now?

There are lot of threads on PDF about significance of Gwadar Port, with Maps you should consult them to learn or you can carry on to become self expert on these ports and whole region.
