Car bomb attack in Peshawar Cantonment

The point was that expressions of sympathy from India need not automatically be dismissed as being insincere - there is a genuine affection between India and many of the people of NWFP.

Sorry to disappoint, but except for the first one or two lines the rest mentioning of ANP & suffering of us like Indians doesn't hold ground & was complete BS. Indians have been suffering, but not like us. Indians haven't yet tasted suicide bombings nor be headings nor the suffering of a refugee in one's own country.

Yours one line of sympathy would have been highly appreciated, instead the mentioning of ANP, its not being hostile to India & that people of NWFP voting for it gave a very negative & wrong impression.

:undecided:

well ENN OOO, NO there is none. First of all ANP is not many of the people nor representative of people from NWFP.

Secondly the entire ANP does not favour India. There are few names in ANP who are mostly related to Trade/Business and hence they always beat the drum for favouritism and trade with India because that serves their business in terms of revenue. Specialy the Bilour family

truly a sad day and heart wrenching. Only a Pakistani can feel the pain and suffering of those hurt in the incident.
on a side note, the first page has some very graphic images posted without any graphical content warning. I think mods should review the policy of posting such images, a link to the site hosting the images should suffice.

Lets not bring politics into this.

Innocent people died and may they rest in peace.

These terrorists must be tackled at all fronts ideological, developmental and militarily

Unfortunately, this seems to me to be wishful thinking - success in Swat valley does not mean the infrastructure of insurgency has been dismantled - for this to happen, the ideas that propel the insurgency will have to be tackled, the Masajids and Madaress that serve as recuriting and training centers for the insugency will have to be taken on, the ideas in society suggesting that it is noble and good, the in the name of, in support of so called "Muslim" causes will have to be challeneged, the sources of funding will have to be challenged publically - in other words, it's a large societal project, which no Pakistani politician, nor the populist media, has stomach for.

So Pakistan will have to suffer as it has been doing for perhaps more than a decade or two -- and when and if the ideas of the insurgency die, new ideas will be goven birth to, which may end up being even more dangerous.

A pessimistic picture? perhaps, but no smoke up the... it's the reality, better we sober up now.

Not just taken on; they must be taken down; just as the Prophet SAW took down the Masjid Zarrar as it was built by munafiqeen to harm Islam...

It is disheartening to see the children and women get injured.

Till the time US is in Afghanistan we all are going to suffer.

Jana,
Do you honestly believe that if the USA were to leave Afghanistan, ASAP, that internal peace would return to Pakistan? Do you honestly believe that those who are funding, training and deploying these suicide bombers will be satisfied, will stand down, and Pakistan will then resume its march to fulfill Jinnah's vision?

P. S. (Could it be that the impetus for these acts comes from elsewhere than sympathy for the Afghans under the thumb of the Americans?)

Sir,

First of all there were no suicide bombings in Pakistan nor any attacks on the Pakistan Army before the arrival of Americans & other Pakistan-hostile nations in Afghanistan. We had a very peaceful atmosphere, you just have no idea how much Pakistan has changed in the last few years, before going to the markets we had no fear, now we don't go to the markets due to fear. People used to roam freely, now they can't.

Just for record, this latest car bomb went of on a road where the American Consulate is situated, hardly 0.5KM away on a straight path, even the gates of the consulate can be seen from this spot & less then half kilometer away there were all important military installation even the Military Hospital was 200 meter away from the blast site, but ironically the blast happened in a civilian population where there was no hostile target, a question comes to mind that why were all the important targets specially American consulate spared when it was just 500 meter away & innocent people killed? This may give an idea of who wants what.

Also, the Afghan Taliban have repeatedly denounced any kind of attacks in Pakistan or on the Pakistan Army on many occasions, these attacks are being carried out by TTP who have nothing to do with Afghanistan, rather their sole purpose is to kill Pakistanis & destabilize Pakistan with support, money & weapons from across the border, Afghanistan.

And if Afghan Taliban do come back in power, we can at least hope that the supply line to the TTP is cut off & their mission to destabilize Pakistan fails, which the Americans have so far failed to do, resulting in a rise to attacks on them in Afghanistan as well as here in Pakistan. But i suppose the dynamics have changed so much that we may not see this come to light as AQ is one party which will or its existence will not let materialize such a scenario.

Anyway, i hope & pray that a day comes that we Pakistanis, all the Muslims of the world & Americans live in Peace without shedding the blood of each other, but for that the killing of innocent Muslims has to stop by Americans & nations supported by it.

Its heart wrenching. May Allah shower his blessings on the departed souls.

Taimikhan is right. We are paying the price of America’s war; that too for peanuts. Attack on Waziristan is not likely to solve anything; except for more bloodshed.
