Cant Stop the Madness

In war it does'nt matter if the plane is armed or unarmed, all that matters is weather it's your or the enemies. Saying that it was umarmed is not a good excause. I remember whne PAF shot down this indian plane some where in the 60's. It was eid, and the plane was unarmed. So then why did we shot it down?

Because it does'nt matter weather it's armed or not, that Atlantique could've been able to serve as a bomber of a transport plane with a bit of modfitions. If we can make a transport plane into a heavy bomber and bomb indian bases etc. We can make Atlantique into a transport plane or something.

So again, if a unarmed indian plane was entering pakistani terrority while these countries were at war, you tell me. Would we let that plane go saying that it's umarmed or would we shoot it down thinking that iit might be spying or even be on a suicide mission. ?

In the case of the Atlantique, it has ELINT equipment on board, hence it becomes a prime target even if it did not carry any weapons at that time.

The Sir Creek area has had numerous prior intrusions by PAF and the IAF had been pulled up for not intercepting the aircraft in time.

According to the IAF report the Atlantique was asked to follow and surrender, but since the IB was close by the PAF pilot took a chance and tried to escape. He saved Pakistan a lot of embaressment had the plane been captured, but paid dearly for it.

Miro,
ARKhan is partially correct when he says that the pilots died. However, only Sqn Ldr Bundela died and not the other pilot.Pilot who shot down Atlantique succumbs to MiG-21 crash injuries

It was Bundela who fired at Atlantique.

The Other pilot was Fg. Off. S. Narayanan.

Bundela's MiG-21 crashed in an Excersice in Rajasthan. He was battling for his life in the Pune Army Hospital where he died after 7 days.

What BD military/Khan was quoted that they died immediately.

The most interesting this is that those Indian pilots who shotdown the unarmed Pakistani aircraft also died shortly after of some causes.

 Even pilots are mortals like you and me. And mortals die of some causes [sic]. :buck:

Their is link among kargil conflict, shooting of this plane and kicking out of Nawaz Shariff. Now you guys do homework and find the answer.

dude IA lost quite abit of respect that i actually had for it pre-kargil. why? attacking 20man sized PA posts with brigde sized attacks? not smart.

What do you think War is ,dispropotinate response is a part of war, It is done by people who are capable of doing that, you need a 6 man advantage if you need to take on hieghts, especially in the wintery hieghts of himalaylas

Hate to burst your bubble but soldiers aren't out for "respect" they want to survive. The best way to do this with minimal loss is to go with overwhelming firepower. If I were there it would not be smart to use smaller units in order to appear good.

Hey i was just wondering.. Why didn't they drop some special paratroopers? Some kind of special unit to put pressure and then just a regular planned attack to take the heights.

because paratroopers wil be shot at
excatly what had happen when the uS invaded Afganistan. Talibans came and started shooting at the Americans whilst in the air.

paratrooping on mountainous height is extremly difficult. The problem is not about getting noticed, rather if you miss by a few metres, you will end up in a 1000 ft hole down the mountains.

Ever wondered by PA never tried parashooting in Siachen? same reason.

And also, Wont Paratrooping at such heights require Oxygen support,

yaar, forget it. The case is closed, officially too. Pak too this matter to the Hague and the international court of justice didn't even bother looking into this case. So basically pakistan lost the case even before it could put its viewpoints. The reason? the two nations signed a bilateral treaty that all disputes would be resolved amongst themselves, or something on those lines. this has been in effect since the simla treaty i believe.

Err I don't think that happened arsenal........In fact the U.S. rangers actually parachuted in and attacked Taliban forces with no casualties. They parachuted in at night......
