ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) has said that it would not give any return date if Nawaz Sharif goes abroad for his medical treatment.

PML-N sources while commenting on removal of Nawaz’ name from ECL said court has already given him 8 weeks bail so why government is asking for his date of return.

Sources added that Nawaz Sharif has already submitted surety bonds in the court.

Sources said further decision would be taken after consulting the legal team, adding that the date of return would be confirmed after medical treatment of former premier starts.

Earlier, it surfaced that federal cabinet is likely to approve conditional removal of former prime minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif’s name from the Exit Control List (ECL).

Sources said that the former prime minister will have to provide guarantee to travel abroad. The federal cabinet is considering the option of submitting bonds as surety.

Sources said that Nawaz Sharif’s name would be removed from the ECL if he fulfills the conditions of the Sub-Committee.

The Sub-Committee has also demanded the lawyers of the PML-N supremo to handover some assets.

The subcommittee will send a summary to the federal cabinet after approval of conditions from Nawaz Sharif and the committee will take final decision till 9pm.

. . . . . . . . .
no hopes from this country just like no hopes from pak cricket team. corruption has devoured this country. pakistanis are the greatest enemies of this country.
Why are you so pessimistic?

The entire issue of Nawaz Sharif has been handled per the laws and processes of the country. He applied for bail and was granted it by the courts. He wants to travel abroad for treatment which requires his removal from the ECL and the the process has been followed in terms of review of his request by the Interior Ministry, NAB and now, with respect to the final decision, the Cabinet.

The cabinet has, so far, put in place very reasonable conditions that Nawaz guarantee his return as well as pledge his assets as collateral in case of turning absconder.

That said, I agree that the concept of post-conviction bail is wrong and that ALL prisoners should only be treated in Pakistan, but to address this issue we will need new legislation to plug the loopholes, and I don't see that happening with the PTI's extremely small majority in the National Assembly and minority in the Senate.

No matter what Its a big blow for IK politically.

It's only a big blow in terms of his supporters who can't understand what is happening.

Everyone's jumping down IK's throat over this when the fact remains that he's acting in accordance with the laws. He has put in very good conditions and lets see if the PMLN accepts them or the conditions are changed.

And like I said, if you want this to end, then support new laws that stop the courts from granting post-conviction bail and only allow treatment in Pakistan for prisoners.

Focus on advocating for change in the system to prevent this in the future instead of getting stuck on Nawaz Sharif.

PTI supporters are over idealistic. Their expectations with IK are very high. Generally, they totally disregard the constraints and limitations, of IK and PTI, whether innate or external. Ironically, their idealistic zeal may become an asset of PML-N and PPP, who are anxiously waiting for the time, when hardcore supporters of PTI woul loose their trust on IK. That would be the time, when they would force their return. Their whole propaganda is directed towards this end.

If he doesn’t come back we liquidate his assets and recover some of the money he’s accused of stealing.

Nawaz Remains disqualified and taxpayers get some of their money back. PMLN electorate will be disillusioned meaning stronger majority in next elections for PTI.

overall a positive development if he doesn’t return.

At the end of the day, in 3 more years, PTI will get elected base on its performance on governance, not because Nawaz left for treatment and forfeited his assets in case of absconding.
