Currently it is not our interest to recognize them. But that does not matter, because they are a country.

Note that KMT itself was just a collection of warlords at the time.

Anything that happened to the KMT was due to legitimate self defense by the CPC. CPC started as a participant in democracy, but KMT wanted a 1 party state. So be it.
