If Nato falls apart there will be no NATO anymore.. 3 parties will show up. The Usa, European army, Others ( Non EU countries etc. ) . So these powers remain becoming ally but only not running from the same HQ. Turkey most probably will shift to Asian side.

ok Most European countries are leeching off the United States in terms of defense. Little countries like Belgium barely have a defense budget knowing they have protection provided by many large countries mostly USA.

If I had to agree with Trump on one thing the imbalance of NATO make-up, where the US makes up a disproportionate contribution to NATO, a grouping that was created to prevent Soviet Union invading Western Europe. This hasn't changed even though the Soviet Union is long gone.

On of the reasons EU was created was to rival the US politically, but to do that they needed to created a standing army that could rival the US, but they never bothered to do so because that would mean diverting resources to national defense. And until US says or does something, nothing will happen. Europe knows US will always have their back.

i mean the better version of this thread could be that

no one in europe comes nearly equal to russia or even the whole Europe combined can be over run by russian Army like an elephant on an ant hill
the only thing europe have is United states
if it was not for US europe would have been still suffering some wars
allies at every front were saved by US
