Can Israel Build a Fighter Jet?

Rather than starting afresh, India and Israel should join hands.

Agree with u ....

They should join Amca project & Japan too...
5th gen fighter jet
Japan+India+Israel..... India have Russian tech and israel have us .... + Japan will be best fighter par f 22

France and UK are considering also 6th gen.

Maybe. I would agree international cooperating is unavoidable.
Point was what is the necessity of a ISRAELI built 6th gen fighter?

Got any U.S fifth generation air superiority aircraft available for sale?
There are a variety of international partners to work with. For Euro states, it is increasingly had to solo develop top products. I suspect same for Israel. Japan is also working with Northrop.

Even if it's not, the revenue generated by the acquisition of India alone, and prospect of international market makes a good financial proposition for Israel.

In 1900 (world war) there was no social media , know one knows much about weapons tech expect technical persons or military GAYS . And only rare militarys had confidential information about enemies tech or weapons ....so power plays big role ....USA has made approx 180000 fighter jets ,so Germans, Japanese, British,USSR..

But in 2016 media plays big role , every one can get basic information about weapons on Google social sites.even a lady in chicken knows about jets tenks.

U can beat one two or four by your power, but u can beat millions by yr reputation, your fear...

So now reputation plays big role..in these days you not only want best fighter jet ..but also reputeded one like f22 ... so u can get market also...

In this veiw how France and UK can get 6th gen jet even they don't make any 5 th gen they can't get reppo also. But Good to make joint expect alone

Even Israel ,Japanese, india also can't make great plan alone they have to be jointed to get that reppo like f 22.

Of course, they can . They have the skills to do it, the lavi project showed that .
However, they don't really need to , as its more feasible/competitive for them to get fighter jets from their western allies chief among which is the U. S. So iif Israel can get the most advanced fighter jets in the world from west Powers , why will they need to build one themselves?? Judging by how costly and complex it is to build a fighter jet (it's different from other military projects like tanks, ABM, air defences etc) alone from scratch .
Notice that very few powers like U.S, Russia, U.K, France, and Germany actually built most of their fighter jets and military equipments based on their own innovation/R&D as and designs from the start etc. Other countries that did/do build them today did/do so based on(reversed engineered) other big powers design/platforms from U.S , French, British or Soviet Russian designs. Reason it's difficult today to see a country/power who built its fighter jets not based on designs/platform from these countries.

Conclusion would still be that Israel most likely couldn't get is done alone, if only for financial reasons. The question relates to a situation/reasons that Israel must design and build a 6th gen fighter, regardless of internationl markets and joint ventures or partnerships with international partners.

Own their own: May be, Low quality, unreliable after spending a fortune.

With western support: Yes, as long as foreign funding and tech is available.

Will they: No, US don't want Israel to make their own jet. Just like US pressure Canada to mothball their Avro CF 105.

Israel really don't need 5th Gen Air superiority fighters as of now. No Air Force hostile to Israel currently match their Current Equipment and we have to admit Israeli AF do utilize their aircraft better than any other air force in world.

Over the time a lot of options will be available (But F-35 will be fine for next 10-15 years) but i think 6th Gen US Air superiority fighters will be in Israeli inventory next.

They can build top of the notch fighters if they wish to with state of the art avionics and subsystems but they don't need.

Nope, if they do, A lot of subsystems (like the engine) will be from the US.

Let me also add a question, namely "Why would Israel need to build a fighter jet?"
The same reasons why France would, i guess. Israel being technologically ahead and in a tough spot strategically could use a domestic fighter. With major clients around the world, and offering a J31/KFX level quasi 5th gen aircraft, it could eat into the 4.5th gen euro canards and f35 market significantly.
It would be quite interesting if Israel could be persuaded to work with India on the AMCA. (Although chances are slim to none)

They wanted to put an F-16 inside a Mirage 2000, they mixed up the avionics and it failed, no sane minded person will think that they had lack of funds! but they got the US and European avionics ToT and they are still capitalizing on it..
Plus, stealing design for the Mirage 2000 from France and the one of the F-16 from the US had its consequences too, Since nor France neither the US was going to allow Usael to compete with them on the global markets and worst yet with their own technologies and designs..

Probably not without the US assistance.

For a country with a population of 8 million, it is already severely punching above its own weight.
