A court has ordered the release of former President Hosni Mubarak.

The Criminal court decided to release Mubarak, pending investigations on corruption accusations. However, Mubarak will not be released today and is expected to remain in custody for at least 48 hours.

Mubarak, 85, is being retried on charges of ordering the killing of protesters during the 2011 uprising that led to his downfall. However, he has already served out the maximum amount of pretrial detention permitted in that case.

The courts decision does not mean he is being acquitted for these charges, but that he would be released pending investigations into these accusations.

Mubarak was sentenced to life in prison last year for failing to prevent the killing of demonstrators. But a court accepted his appeal earlier this year and ordered a retrial.

A dictator for 30 years

Billions stolen by this clown and the egyptian elite Egypt ruled like it was his personal brothel

Thousands killed under his rule innocent people tortured and killed

Well done egyptian liberals you overthrew democracy for s dictator and a brutal military junta

You total twats

Its tragic...Since last week their army has killed 900 people...Sometimes I dont see any difference between Egyptian people and Pakistani people..We seem to get sick of one dictator, welcome a civilian, get impatient and then welcome another military brat..Who enslaves us.I dont see any difference between Al Sisi and Mubarak.Mubarak was a friend of Israel, and the way Al Sisi is trying to decapitate Muslim Brother hood shows that this man is playing in some western hands.Mubarak kept his country stable for 30 long years. And this General has created civil war situation in just one year..Sisi is trying to crush an 80 year old movement.which has the support of people...Syria and Egypt were so beautiful and peaceful countries and look at them now..those Generals in Egypt and Assad in Syria will end up ruling over rubble and flames and nothing else..

This move had to be understood after military coup ... Both Mubarak & Sisi are USA touts ..........

And the anti-MB accuse the US of supporting the MB.

We'll need to wait a few more centuries until Muslims grow up and start blaming themselves instead of everyone else.

Unfortunately you are right. Political parties in opposition were in forefront of dismantling an elected government.

US did not support MB, but reluctantly accepted MB as the legitimate elected govt. This coup happened because of Egyptian internal division, as well as due to regional players influence. In fact, US and EU was working overtime to stop Sisi from applying force to remove MB sit-ins, but regional players won out with more influence. Any way you look at it, this is an internal fight between Egyptian Sunni Muslims, as well as regional Arab Sunni Muslims.

So this Muslim already blames us Muslims for this incident, you do not need to wait a few more centuries. There are clueless ill informed people among all kinds of people, not just Muslims.

Jews have been working very hard to divide Muslims from beginning ... As they had spread trinitarianism among Christians .........

So the dictator goes free. One actually wonder what was the point of this blood bath if it had to go back to a bloody zero. Arab Monarchs must be celebrating their victory.

And the role of Saudia is exactly why you wouldn't want to jump in the grand 'Sunni Alliance' of Middle East Kalu Miah. Asian Muslim countries should work towards improving ties with each other, both Malaysia and Indonesia are functional societies. ME is done for now, the after shocks of Iraq, Syria and Egypt will continue for years to come.

He isn't free yet. He was convicted for being complicit in the killing of protesters. He then appealed and the appeal was accepted. There are no other charges against so he must be released on bail according to the law. He will most likely be put under house arrest until his retrial.

Mobarek jailing was nothing but a acting. If mobarak go to prison then a lot of generals have to come with him so this wont happen!

I am afraid egypt wil be the next syria.

More likely Algeria of 90's but I hope political parties actually play a positive role and bring MB on negotiation table. It will just be more senseless killing without an end.
