CAG bashes Indian Coast Guard

Yesterday, India's national audit agency, the Comptroller & Auditor General (CAG) placed reports in Parliament, the thickest among them detailing massive graft in the administration of the Commonwealth Games in 2010. Buried under that hot political story -- and only touched upon briefly by some media -- was the auditor's report on the Indian Coast Guard (ICG). The report was released at a particularly mortifying time for the ICG -- less than a week before, it was in the spotlight (along with the navy and Mumbai police) for being ostensibly clueless about the 1,000-ton abandoned merchant vessel MT Pavit that drifted across the Arabian Sea and ran aground on one of Mumbai's most popular beaches. The ship had sliced through layer after layer of India's maritime security tiers. The audit report is thundering indictment of red tape, turf battles, faulty procurement, government apathy and massively misdirected expenditure that has resulted in none of the heightened preparedness and minimised reaction time that the 26/11 attack had necessitated. Another day. Another wake up call. Pity.

Time and Again, I have see governments trying to silence CAG. I think they should publicize all report.

But what are the actions took against them non . BTW they even took our PM in their web for commanwealth.

CAG being pro active of late is really useful but we should realize that they dont have expertise in all matters. Their opinion cannot be an incriminating evidence but wont be called a speculation either.

Thats where CBI comes in (who are already in the back pocket of our home ministry) rendering the whole issue raised by CAG diluted enough to the point of being useless.

You think MMS is innocent? Not taking money but watching others take it and still remain silent means equally complicit mate. If he was that honest, he would have fought against this injustice. Shows that he's not.

Hello Tshering22, I ve been following your posts and I noticed you are anti MMS. Just out of curiosity who is the best feasible option do we have to chair as PM. Do not tell me Narendra Modi or Rahul Gandhi without giving a justification on how one would make it to the seat. This is just out of curiosity.

i can answer that for you, Modi is a good choice for PM but i doubt he will get that position because of Gujrat debacle, Modi is good choice for PM look at the economic situation in Gujrat, Gujrat in the late 90's was just like Bihar but Modi's reforms turned the state into a economic powerhouse

Rahul Sonia anyone from the Nehru-Gandhi family can go to hell they're corrupt, socialist, and have not done anything good for India CONgress party slogan is garibi hatao but they've been in power for most of Indias independent history yet 38% of our population lives under the poverty line

the BJP was in power from 1998-2004 during that time the amount of people living under the poverty line decreased from ~44% to 39% look at what BJP is doing in Bihar Nitish Kumar has turned Bihar into another Gujrat by developing it

i'm not saying Modi should be PM Jaitley should but the cabinet should be

i want to see a developed and prosperous India with little to no poverty you won't see that with CONgress/UPA govt' but BJP/NDA gov't you will

CAG, EC and Supreme Court are ray of hope for India. But the fact is all these institutions have been targeted by our PM recently. He said Supreme Court should not discuss matters related to Policy while CAG should not hold press conferences.

IMO Swaraj would be good for MEA.... Sinha is a better choice over Ravi Shankar Prasad for FM but Modi would be a better home minister than defense we should put an ex army chief like JJ Singh as defense minister or JFR Jacob (if he is still in politics)

Advani is a old timer he can be deputy PM but Jaitley would be my ideal choice for PM if Modi can be PM then i'd switch Modi and Jaitley positions around
