BYD's make low end cheap cars whereas Tesla targets luxury car buyers and prices them accordingly even though their cars may not be up to the luxury standard, they are still priced as such. That's the reason why they have higher margins.

Because they don’t do enough research to understand the difference between PHEVs and BEVs. They see a headline number BYD reports and roll with it.

Tesla sold more BEVs than BYD in 2022. That’s a fact. Not to mention Tesla is far more profitable than BYD.
Really? PHEVs aren't EVs? Just cause one is a Hybrid it's not considered as an EV?

What more do you say? ? ? There is no such thing as Japanese cars in the electric car market. 85% of China's electric vehicle market belongs to Chinese brands, and the rest are brands such as Tesla and Volvo, and there are almost no Japanese cars.

That's true...but aren't you going against the point of the OP title? They are including BYD's hybrids in the total inorder to surpass Tesla's numbers..and Japan's auto industry sells lots of hybrids.
