It is being said here that Rumsfeld took the policy of an offensive role against the insurgents and sometimes brutal role, playing no mercy, shot down policy, and that is one of the reasons why America has failed in Iraq. A more peaceful operation could make a win situation for America. Casualties caused by war are 100 times more than what Saddam intentionally killed his people.

Iraq will need help for years, and I hope not for decades.

US gouvernment you right, but fortunatly, there is also a people in USA, and not only a gouvernement.
American people start, at last, to understand, how they were misleaded by bush administration.
They couldn't accept more death on US armee.

Who is the real faulty ? The gouvernement that lied, or the people that believe the lie against evidence ?
For me it's definitly the bush administration, some men that makes hundred of thousand death for economic reason (...oil)
But american people is not all white here, and had the time to understand, with international proves, that there was no WMD in Iraq, so no real reason to go there ...
I don't know if it's a guilty feeling that lead american to hate french because they were the leader in the opposition to war ... but it really looks like something like this.

I don't think comparing the number of death is a good comparison.
Not only because it's quite morbid, but also because you have to compare time and reasons, this make the discussion about it VERY sensitive and difficult.
The stability of the country and the area is a much better comparison to my eyes.
