In this thread I will try to inform about a tribe called Burman/Bamar, the current majority ethnic group in Burma, that has waged a thousand year long genocidal campaign against other neighboring tribes in order to absorb them or wipe them out completely, and the war still continues as we speak:

(especially among the Shan people).

Just a glimpse June 11th, 19:15

About South Asia, Southeast Asia, East Asia and Burmese terrorism:
For millennia, the ethnic Bamar Burmese have viewed the ethnic minority in their country and the periphery as populated by barbarians and it is a mark of Bamar history to “eliminate”, “eradicate” and/or “Bamarize” them (bring them under Bamar cultural, economic and genetic control). Karen, Kachin and Shan were independent kingdoms until “recently” by historical standards. Of course, the Bamar are aware of ethnic minorities, but they will just dress up these “quaint people” as tourist attractions or simply just kill them (although Bamar leaders of course, will always wear Western suits). Bamar society is convinced of their cultural superiority (especially over those lazy backward neighbouring ethnic minorities), they have long-term political goals of Bamar ethnic dominance. The goal is to make the Burma Bamar only, and eventually make Southeast Asia and later the whole world Bamar. They might view the India and China as a "worthy adversary" that they have to compete against but ethnic minorities and Thais are not even looked upon by the Bamar as "equals". South China Sea, Indian Ocean and Thailand are strategic goals for the Bamar, which is why they are launching terrorist attacks to claim them. History ultimately is always written by the “conquerors”, but since the Bamar plan will probably not succeed, history is unlikely to be written by them.

In myanmar, there are 135 ethnic groups, but Myanmar's military government look them on as "foreigners"、“illegal immigrants” and refused to give them ID except Burmese, although most of the ethnic groups such as Kachin ,Karens etc. live in Mayanmar as long as Burmese, even longer. So those so-called "foreigners"、“illegal immigrants” want to have their own homeland and ID and will give ID to Burmese if they want to become a Kachin or Karens etc, they needn't Burmese ID in fact. They aren't "foreigners"、“illegal immigrants” in their own land where they have live for thousands of years.

A dangerous backdrop June 17th, 12:55

For millennia, the Bamar have viewed the Burmese ethnic minority as populated by barbarians and it is a mark of Bamar history to “civilize”, “pacify” and “Bamarize” them (bring them under Bamar cultural, economic and genetic control).
Karen, Kachin and Shan were independent kingdoms until “recently” by historical standards. Of course, the Bamar are aware of ethnic minorities, but they will use these “quaint people” as cheap labor who can be pushed around and treated like slaves.
Bamar society is convinced of their cultural superiority (remember the pretentious Bamar Buddhist Propaganda Institutes) and they have long-term economic goals (Chinese RMB bonds), so they are hungry for natural resources (e.g. gas and oil). The goal is to make Burma Bamar dominant, and to make the Bamar race a dominance race in Southeast Asia. The process will continue for the next 1000 years and the Bamar are not afraid to roll over other races, especially Burmese ethnic minorities, as seen in Burma today, to accomplish their goals.

Today Myanmar is seen as the last land in Asia in attracting foreign investment. But it seems there are still many internal challenges...
This is the lands of competitions opium control...

Such problem always existed in Burma and right now its going towards betterment.

I had heard of abuses by the Junta, but I had no idea the problem was so serious. All nations have some medieval war fare and subsequent "nation building" in their past history, Han Chinese being a great example. But amazing thing about Bamars is that they do not seem to recognize that this is 21st century, they cannot and should not be engaged in this kind of "medieval" behavior at this day and age. But somehow they seem oblivious and are bent on doing what they think is right.

I hope they change their ways, because if they do not, I see dark days ahead for them and the region.

Chinese first and then Indians have provided this rogue regime with the lifeline. Now the US/West and the rest want to jump on the bandwagon to exploit Burma's vast resources. I personally think its a mistake and a premature move. Bamar's should be isolated by the whole world till they solve their genocidal problems with all minorities, in my opinion. Giving them more resources will mean that they will buy more and more weapons and completely wipe out the existence of remaining minorities from their land, unless they agree to assimilation.

please, support your statement with facts!

As far known by trickling news, it is India who is orchestrating the genocide of Muslims.

Indians are giving land mines to lay in Muslim Majority areas and providing artillery to shoot down its own people.

I think Bangladesh would adopt a middle way to deal with Burma. Burma is a resource rich and very low populated country, as compare to Bangladesh. and even if there is a discrimination with minorities, Bangladeshis would prefer to live with it and try to send as much population to Burma as they can and slowly slowly Bangla people will themselves become majority in this hardly 55mil population people. :meeting:

sending population into Burma will benefit Bangladesh on long run as it is on the door of ASEAN/China and very poor right now, who won't be able to handle back door immigration as easily. But here Bangladesh would need help from its close friend China to get their work done in Burma. best of luck
