Bureaucrats outnumber politicians on NRO list
ISLAMABAD: A list released by the government on Saturday shows that bureaucrats and technocrats who benefited from the NRO outnumber politicians. Although the majority of the names released were low cadre employees, the list includes the names of some former senior officials. It included the names of Saeed Mehdi and Muhammad Ahmed Sadiq, both former principal secretaries to prime minister; Javed Ahmed Qureshi, former provincial chief secretary; AR Siddiqui; Javed Talat, former finance secretary; Salman Farooqui, former commerce secretary; Brig (r) Aslam Hayat Qureshi, former commerce secretary; and Muhammad Usman Farooqui, former Pakistan Steel Mills chairman. The list also includes the names of Muhmaad Nawaz Butt, Karachi customs collector; Abrar Ahmed, former CBR commissioner (income tax); Chaudhry Nazir Ahmed, a district food controller; and Jaffar Mohamand, former OGDC executive director. staff report
