Buddhism is practically extinct in India. And were it not so, it would be anathema to Hindu dogma anyway.

It's not though, in fact there are Buddhist members on this forum anyway that can happily prove you wrong. And LOL at that Hindu Dogma line, real classy bro.

Yet the vast majority of your people today are devout Hindus. And didn't constant competition with Hinduism contribute to Buddhism's decline in India in the first place?

No it didn't lol, I am half Sikh myself and religions like Sikhism, Christianity and Islam are flourishing. The main reason for Buddhism decline was due too Islamic invasion. Many Buddhist stupas, temples and monuments were destroyed and many followers where executed or converted to Islam. Unlike Hindus, Buddhists didn't haves army to defend themselves. This might be hard for you too hear since you where probably brought up too hate Hindus and everything India but it's the trut.

Well I'm not religious but my father is Sikh and my mother is Hindu.

I think religion is your own believes not parents - but anyway you can call yourself full Hindu as all Indian religions are offshoots of Hinduism.

There are around 10 million Buddhists in India and with the rapid conversion of Lower caste Hindus to Buddhism their numbers are going up rapidly.

Siddharth was born in Nepal but Buddha was born in India.

This saying is not correct. There were 23 Buddhas so far, 23rd Buddha is "Gautama" Buddha.
Next Buddha is "Maithri" Buddha.

Anyway Gautam Buddha is more likely half north Indian, half Nepali person who born in Nepal.

in modern world Thailand is land of Buddha
