A plant for maintenance of BTR-80 armoured vehicles will be built with the Russian participation in Bangladesh.

The construction contract was signed in December 2012, said the head of the delegation of “Rosoboronexport” at the exhibition IDEX-2013 Nikolay Dimidyuk.

“We think that we will manage to build this plant fin a half year. Our experts were checking out and made shooting of the area” – said Dimidyuk. According to him, “we have built a similar plant for maintenance of APCs, armored personnel carriers and tanks of the Russian origin in South Korea. It is a magnificent plant, it operates and the Republic of Korea appraises it highly.”

“A lot of BTR-80, more than 600 units, were supplied to Bangladesh,” – informed the expert. It is relevant to create an enterprise on their service in this country.

It is a reminder that in December of the last year a contract for the supply 120 anti-tank missiles (ATGM) “Metis” to Bangladesh was concluded, it is scheduled to perform the contarct during the year.

It'd be a great step indeed. If the plant's goal is like the Korean one where maintenance of APCs, armored personnel carriers and tanks of the Russian origin can be carried out, that would be best. With such facility I hope later we can maintain all our tanks, APCs irrespective of origin. Only BTR-80 maintenance facility will not be that reasonable.
