ISLAMABAD: As the government lodged a protest on Wednesday with the Indian government over the killing of a 70-year-old civilian in Rawlakot sector, another Pakistani civilian has been killed by Indian Border Security Force firing at the working boundary near Shakargarh, The Express Tribune has learnt.

According to Pakistan Rangers (Punjab) officials, at around 11:00am, few local farmers were in their fields at Zero Line in Shakargarh Sector.

The BSF, without giving any warning, opened fire when one of the farmers went close to the Zero Line, inadvertently.

One Pakistani farmer received serious bullet injuries, and was taken under custody by BSF officials. He later succumbed to his injuries.
The injured has been identified as 30-year-old Tauqeer, son of Shabbir, who was a resident pf Village Jalala, Tehsil Shakargarh, district Narowal.

Efforts are in place to bring the body of the deceased civilian to Pakistan, added the Rangers official.

Foreign ministry condemns attack on civilians

Earlier, a foreign ministry statement condemned the killing of a 70-year-old civilian in Rawlakot sector, while calling upon India to restrain its security forces from firing on civilians, and stop the ceasefire violations across the LoC and Working Boundary. The government also offered its condolences to the bereaved family.

probably trying to enter indian territory to smuggle drugs. Drug smuggler know how to cross fence where it is less patrolled

Yeah, it couldn't have happened that BSF crossed fence to bring him inside Indian side of the fence.

That's our version, but I am waiting to hear something from Pakistanies.

And yes recently BSF has been pressed hard by Home ministry to curb drug smuggling.

Imran Khan formed his political part namely Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf. Then quickly he was able to come in front of leadership and gather lot of people in his campaigns. Very quickly Pakistan and world’s media received it positively that he arrive to focus.

Writer should do little research about topic before writing, IK achieved current status in politics after 17 years struggle, not quickly quickly as he has written. BTW why you have posted this here?

Isn't our border with Pakistan's Punjab fenced ??If yes then ,how did this 30 year old guy cross the fence ??

How you concluded that the guy crossed fence?

R.I.P...... Rangers should act accordingly to save Pakistani civilians from trigger happy yahoos.

The border between Pakistan and India especially in Punjab province is not fully fenced. Lots of people cross borders unintentionally and then ultimately being killed by indian BSF.

No one would like to visit the insane india, not even for smuggling!

Because his body was retrieved by Indian forces which proves that he died on the other side(Indian side) of the fence! Unless next you propose-that R R first shot this 30 yr old person peacefully minding his own business inside Pakistani territory and then launched an operation to retrieve his body- it is quiet clear that victim was an intruder who was dealt accordingly.

Tell that to Actors, Actresses, Musicians, Cricketers, Businessmen etc who are lining up for Indian Visas. Heck forget about the elite i heard 200 of your country men are waiting just beyond the international border waiting to crossover for a meeting with their maker fixed and facilitated by Indian Army.

Don't you know that fencing was first done in 1988-93 and it was done along Punjab's border. It's the oldest one and not even a inch of Punjabi border is without fence.

If that would have been the case then you would have fenced the border from your side but  that was not to be so , India itself had to fence border to keep away unwanted pakistanies.

SIALKOT: Indian Border Security Forces shot dead a Pakistani citizen near zero line in the Shakargarh sector on Wednesday.

According to senior officials of Chenab Rangers, local farmers were working in their fields near zero line, close to Ajlaala village.

Tauqeer Ahmed, 30, had gone to the area inadvertently. The Indian forces fired at him without any warning.

He received serious bullet injuries. The BSF soldiers dragged him into the Indian territory and shot him dead.

Chenab Rangers said efforts were being made to bring back the body.

Pakistan strongly protested against the brutality and dragging and killing of its citizen by Indian troops.

Meanwhile, the Foreign Office protested to India over the death of a civilian in the latest incident of ceasefire violation on the Line of Control on Tuesday.

“The government of Pakistan, today, has lodged protest with the government of India through diplomatic channels over the casualty of a 70-year-old civilian in the Rawlakot sector, caused due to indiscriminate firing by the Indian forces, on 28 October,” a Foreign Office spokesperson said.

Mohammad Din, a shepherd, was killed on Tuesday evening in Chirikot village in Indian shelling. He was reportedly grazing goats in fields near the LoC.

According to the ISPR, Pakistani military “effectively responded” to the Indian firing.

The demarche given to the Indian government condemned the incident and called upon Delhi to restrain its security forces from firing on the civilians, and stop the ceasefire violations across the LoC and the Working Boundary.

Thirteen Pakistani civilians have been killed in the latest phase of LoC violations that have virtually continued unabated since the first week of this month.
