BSF Officer shoots self dead in Poonch

Srinagar: An Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of Border Security Force (BSF) on Thursday committed suicide by shooting self with his service rifle at Balnoie along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir.
Official sources said ASI, GD Karamvir Singh (48) of 168 BSF, a resident of Panipath Harayana, posted at forward area of Balnoie in Mankote shot himself inside a bunker while he was on duty late today afternoon. The officer suffered serious injuries in the incident.
Following the gunshot, the colleagues rushed towards the officer and found him in a pool of blood, he said, adding that the officer was immediately taken to a nearby health facility where doctors declared him brought dead.
Police officer , Mendhar Neeraj Padyer also confirmed the incident.
It could not be immediately known why the officer took this extreme step, he said.
Meanwhile, the officer said that a case has been registered and further investigations have been taken up. (GNS)
