Good idea for Japan to send a fleet half way across the world. Come back to reality and stop watching WWE.
Japan was not in the position to help Germany because it was preoccupied with China and US.
Are you serious? Japan could have based its carriers at Toulon. By the time Battle of Britain started France was allied with Germany under Petain.
Japan did not start war with the US until December 1941. Battle of Britain was before June 1940. China had no offensive capability against Japan.
Not every French was welcoming of Germany.
Japan to be able to build a base would be plagued with problems.
Only way they access the Mediterean is by taking the Suez with an Italian-German Coalition.
France was allied with Germany and took part in Battle of Britain.
Vichy France?? What about Free Framce
The Tripartite Pact between Germany, Italy and Japan was signed on September 27, 1940.Japan did not start war with the US until December 1941. Battle of Britain was before June 1940. China had no offensive capability against Japan.
The Tripartite Pact between Germany, Italy and Japan was signed on September 27, 1940.
ARTICLE 3 of the Tripartite Pact: "Japan, Germany, and Italy agree to cooperate in their efforts on aforesaid lines. They further undertake to assist one another with all political, economic and military means if one of the Contracting Powers is attacked by a Power at present not involved in the European War or in the Japanese-Chinese conflict."
Emphasis mine.
[1] Germany did not push Japan to provide assistance for the Battle of Britain, or talks on these lines were not fruitful.
[2] The Battle of Britain ended on October 31, 1940; only 33 days after the Tripartite Pact came into effect. However, this pact was not valid for the Battle of Britain.
[3] Japan was preoccupied with China during the days of the Battle of Britain in Europe. In connection, US imposed an embargo on oil and gasoline exports to Japan on August 1, 1940. I am not sure if Japan was willing to commit a fleet to the European theater under these circumstances. However, American embargo motivated Japan to consider the Tripartite Pact at minimum.
Like I said. China had no offensive capability against Japan. China was a minor part of Japan's campaign. Also, Japan could have based its fleet in Rome for example to support Battle of Britain. Europe battle was far more important than Asia battle.
Second Sino-Japanese war was not minor it was a pretty brutal war that costed millions of lives.
Arent you Chinese?? Pretty offensive to be saying that because of Japan being preoccupied in China allowed the Americans to pull up all of their resources against Japan while Japan who had limited industrial capabilities were fighting on different fronts.
Second Sino Japanese war may not be desicive but the war constantly bogged down Japan into a Stalemate.
Japan easily took China capital Nanking. Like I said. China did not have navy or air force and was not able to invade China. Japan can invade China. Not vice verse. Japan could have chose to fight in Europe to help Germany instead of slaughtering Chinese.
Perhaps Japan should have not invaded China in the first place.
