Yes We have internal security issue (some home grown and some imported), and agencies are taking it seriously.... But when they fail that is the time these kind of incidents happens.

I was happened to be around lot of police personal for 3 days in chennai, and one of these days they had detected a bomb in a shopping mall (parking lot) and defused it.... There was no mention of it in any news, since i was with them i over heard them talking......

Although it is too early to comment but if this is handiwork of the IM, it is because of sheer frustration. Over the past 1 year many of their top leaders/operatives have been nabbed from Nepal, recently one guy was also nabbed from from BD and other parts of India.
They have'nt carried out strikes after last year's Hyd blasts. Now if you see the nature of this blast, it was kind of low intensity which means the bomb was designed by a rookie (thankfully). Looks like a few maggots still remain.

The focus on targeting south was available with intelligence agencies. TN govt has ordered CB-CID probe.

Assuming a train commuter as culprit is not completely logic. TN government is known for tougher stands when it comes to internal security. This incident can also have political outcomes ,post poll on policy matters with alliances that will shape the future, of the state, of the country.

On topic:
1) train was from banglore to gauhati, chennai was an intermediate stop
2) the bombs explodeed when the train from bangalore just entered chennai station- so bomb placed even before the train reached chennai
3) the train was running late by one and half hours...the train was supposed to reach chennai by 5.30 but reached here at 7.10 so there is still a possiblity that chennai may not be the intended target.
4) 1 dead - a 22 yr girl who sat on the seat below which the bomb was placed and several injured- reports vary from 10-15
5)One suspect caught hidind and in custody
