Cross-post from Azadi March Sticky thread:

Dharna ends....

Imran Khan shows much needed maturity. His stature will now grow. I hope he supports government in war against TTP and focuses on electoral reforms and governance of KPK. This will decide his fortunes in 2018 elections. I hope and wish he gets more than 25 seats like this time.

His course of action will decide whether he becomes another Asghar Khan, or actually becomes a valued politician.

Pakistan needs stability, at least to allow much needed economic improvement, growth, and development. Imran's contribution will matter a great deal in his electoral performance.

Welcome back Imran. I hope you stay the course now. I would not mind supporting you again, provided you put our political, economic, and institutional need for stability first.
now that the lying crook javed hashmi out of the picture everything will be good with IK

What a shameful man. A taliban sympathizer.....he knew if he didn't stop with this non-sense, people are gonna flog him in public.

It took this tragedy....a murder of 140 people........ to bring IK to senses.

Some people never change...

now that the lying crook saved hashmi out of the picture everything will be good with IK

Care to explain? I can not make anything of your reply.

If you think that I mean everything is OK with IK, you are mistaken. Politicians make mistakes. One hopes that they learn from it. If they do not, they become irrelevant and get discarded. For us Pakistanis, we have precious few national leaders. They need to be given space to grow.

If you think that I have forgotten Javed Hashmi, I most assuredly have not. I have a lot of respect for him.

Ending dharna must be appreciated and IK should be given credit for taking this step. This did not happen in a vacuum. NS provided a face-saving space to IK and the display of maturity in our politics must be appreciated.

Troglodytes, however, will not understand this.

Good decision. It is time to unite not to create political anarchy.

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) on Wednesday decided to end their countrywide sit-in protests, DawnNews reported.

“Due to the situation in the country right now, we have decided to end our protests,” PTI Chairman Imran Khan told party supporters in Islamabad.

The decision was made by the PTI core committee to end the four-month long sit-in protests.

Imran Khan said that the decision had been made in light of the terrorist attack on a school in Peshawar and said that the country needed national unity.

Tuesday's terrorist attack left 141 people dead, including 132 children.

“I have never seen an atrocity like this in my entire life...I cannot even comprehend how someone could kill children like this,” he said.

“If someone killed my children like this, I would seek to avenge it as well,” Imran said.

When speaking about attending the All Parties Conference (APC) headed by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in Peshawar today, he said that it had to be done for the country's interest.

“I initially was hesitant to go to the meeting with Nawaz Sharif, but decided that it had to be done in the interest of the nation,” Imran Khan said.

“During the past few months I have seen the people of Pakistan wake up and rise for their rights...We held historic protest rallies in Pakistan with record numbers of people attending,” the PTI chairman said.

However, he said that the party would continue to fight for 'justice' and insisted that a judicial commission had to be constituted to investigate alleged rigging during the 2013 elections.

Imran Khan also said that if the judicial commission finds rigging to have taken place, then the prime minister would have to resign.

The PTI, along with Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT), had launched a campaign against the government of PM Nawaz Sharif in August, demanding that he resign over alleged rigging in last years polls.
