I am merely speaking from experience in AJK local politics, everyone knows the leaders are corrupt and still vote for them because they are a badass and have connections all over Pakistan. They at times know the opposition leader is a good person but will not vote him. They want somebody who will do their dirty work for them. In Pakistan baradari politics takes place and from all baradari only the badmash and big lier becomes the head, he then makes connection with the local politician, the local politician then has the police in his pockets, has links with other big politicians, mafia, patwaris, judges and military guys, they attend each other private parties, make millions from corruption, buy family heads for votes, the family head makes lakhs because he then blackmails the politician for contracts. Everybody eats from the same pie.
If your a good person, your useless. The local family head will blackmail you and trap you to submit, the local people will not back you, the local politician won't even shake your hand, the police will spit on your face, the land mafia patwari will trap you in a such a way you be crying to the local politician for help, you will not be able to meet the judges or military guys.
In AJK PTI came to power but most of their leaders are ex PPP, PMLN guys, or from the same clan, they are no different. Noone wants independent powerful and political free police, lawyers, Judiciary, military. This is because even a normal useless person then could challenge them. He/she could also go through the same process without safarish/bribery.
In the UK I am currently helping someone who has a fine of £12000 from the tax authorities, I challenge them even though I have no political backing or used money influence. Yes its true even in the UK corruption takes place but that's at the higher level, it mostly doesn't effect the normal working population.
