The Brazilian government on 19 August promulgated a document, first signed in 2010 with the German government, meant to further improve bilateral defence co-operation between the two states.
The approved document outlines co-operation in areas such as political matters related to defence, training for military operations, research and development, procurement, logistics support, military hardware consultancy, and sharing of international security information.
It coincides with the official visit German Chancellor Angela Merkel made to Brasilia 19-20 August, with a meeting held the second day between Brazilian Minister of Defence Jaques Wagner and German Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Defence Ralf Brauksiepe.
