Brahmos will be installed on Scorpenes

How does he know the result of the second sub line winner??. This only says they will puch for Brahmos instalation on second line. We all know that the second line will have land attack capability and Brahmos will be installed there.

I agree and we have to keep in mind that there were reports from DCNS officials, that said Brahmos VLCs can only be added instead of the AIP propulsion, because the Scorpene can add only 1 more modul. By the fact that the first (AFAIK 3) Scorpenes won't have AIP, I doubt IN will make the same mistake again. Either they get a sub that can have both AIP and Brahmos, or AIP only, because that is more important.

Yes..very possible..Or, this may be the reason they will give regarding the huge delays we are facing..

I still hope for a different propulsion, but if they faced delayes because of Brahmos into the first Scorpenes, it would make it worth it again. But if they will just normal diesel - electric subs with without Brahmos, they can't justify this deal.

keeping the current situation in place, even i agree with you that IN will not make a mistake by delaying it further. First 3 scorpenes will not have AIP, and the second will have AIP. However thsi is about the second line of subs where Brahmos will be installed. But as we know if Brahmos VLS is added, they will loose AIP.

However if we have any detail about the Russian, and german subs, if Brahmos and AIP bboth can be added, then they will have clear advantage of winning this contract without any delay.

The Russians already shows models of Amur class with Brahmos VLCs and according Igor from Defunct Humanity, they also offer an own AIP propulsion, not sure though how capable it is.
It was reported that MoD/IN asked the Germans about adding Brahmos to U214 too and that they will look if it's possible, but never heared about it again.

^^ I like Navy's pessimism about adding domestically/ JV produced stuff on everything it acquires. And kudos to Admiral Verma for continuing what Admiral Mehta was so obsessed with---indigenization.

Please explain your comments as above. It seems to indicate some disagreement and disapproval of the "indigenisation" programme of the IN. If you can explain why, then it will be possible to both discuss and dissect the programme.

Yes even thats what I have found. The scorpenes only have exocet anti ship missiles, but no VLS mentioned there, Only Amur has Vls and AIP....If thats teh case then Amur can actually work well with us, coz first its an advanced version of Kilo class subs that we operate.

What do you mean by that? Isn't everyone want indigenous products??? I think IN was mainly praised for their support for Indian ships and high end systems which are way ahead of IA and IAF in terms of technological generation wrt to advanced navies.

IN going to have three carriers with in next 7 years with many stealth ships, submarines etc.
