ADux before you start complaining about how Indians are so hard done by, maybe you should ask Malay or Con or Joey how many infractions they have. If you cannot handle a thread, I suggest the ignore function.

you know what the babur cruise missile is better than the brahmos. It has a much larger range, it hits stuff extreamly acurate and the biggest thing is dat its a missile dat avoids radar detection. Pakistan made it by it self! tell me what makes u guys think dat the brahmos is better than babur?

MOD EDIT------

CB4 please stop using text speech as I am getting tired of correcting it. it is THAT not DAT and YOU not U

The crux of supersonic missiles versus Subsonic missile is based on doctrine.
In and aorund Ocean where normally Sonars performance varies, having a solid anti-shipping is very important.

Even wit best of best radars, in todays world it is not possible to detect a destroyer thousands of kilometres away unless your providing constant AEW support and MPA sorties, sea wave clutter coupled with weather plays a desicive role. You can barely detect such a target even 150 kms away incase of some serious wave clutter and a stealthy design.

In a one to one engagement that Navies like India can likely see in near future missiles like Brahmos are indispensible, HAd we fleet like USD we wouldnt even need a ship based Anti-ship missile.

VISAKHAPATNAM: The Indian Armed Forces would have Land Attack Supersonic Missiles (LASM) inducted in their arsenal by 2009.

These missiles, possessed by a few other countries in the world, would enhance the combat capabilities of the Indian Army, Navy and Air Force, said DRDO Chief Controller (R&D) A Sivathanu Pillai.

Addressing a press conference at Naval Science and Technological Laboratory here on Thursday, Pillai said the LASM have already been tested for the Army and Navy and they are pending integration with the Air Force.

The process of developing Underwater Autonomous Vehicles which would be camouflaged, would be completed by the end of 2008.

As regards production of weapons, Pillai said India’s public and private sector industries must gear up to meet the requirements of the country’s defence weaponry. Out of the $ 30 billion Defence spending in the next five years, equipment valued at $10 billion is planned for manufacture indigenously.

The small players in the field of Defence production, could form into a consortium with the major industries for both designing and manufacturing.

This would be providing an integrated platform for undertaking Defence contracts and facilitate their speedy execution.
