Are most Indians genetically closer to Australian aborigines than even Pakistani?

Depends. An Andamanese would be much closer to Australian aborigines - their common ancestors diverged from the common ancestors of Pakistani/Afghan people most likely in Africa, which is not too recent!
They are related to 100 % ASI. Most Indians (excluding the Burmese looking NE people) are a combination of mostly ASI genes with some ANI genes. The % of ANI is higher among certain groups in the North West close to Pakistan.
