What's new

Bonjour India festival 2013. A French attempt to strengthen"cultural ties".

A few idiots have turned this thread into troll thread..

What French past colonization has to do with the event of today?

and the last thing an Indian would need is to learn Indian history from a Canadian Pakistani..

I got some quebecois blood so that makes me french enough i guess, hopefully that part of me even if small does not bother you :)

Time to go offline buddy But I promise when in evening I will come back then will post lots of related things on this site. I have studied french(feels good) as well as German(tough compared to french). Have heard that Italian & Spanish are more easier to learn. Correct?

German is tough, i give your props for taking that, just curious did you take it at universitè level because i am really terrible.

Interesting. I know French has been given official status in Pondicherry, I believe it is spoken in parts of Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu as well.. Indo-French ties are a welcoming gesture

I have a friend from Pondicherry who studied French in his school. Although Indians learn French too but mainly for job opportunities.

Why would it bother me? You can go get blood infusions of few more nationalities or learn their languages and I assure you that wouldn't bother me either.. Because none of that will change the way you see things and your prominent part will always be dominant on your thought process. ;)

Yeah we have a choice to learn a second language here in Vegas, it's either Spanish or French. I chose Spanish since I grew up in a Mexican environment and the fact that it is essential to speak that language when living in the Western states.

In short @liontk will be hated because he has some Pakistani blood... we have all seen it before lion mosieur. In Canada, US everywhere. We are the most hated people. Now you know what it means to be one of us. When you get the luxury of time do visit your ancestral place and do something for the local starved and uneducated people so that the world stops trying to crush them under their heel, particularly Indians with media propaganda.

Okey if its mistake earlier i apologize, I went overboard with the colonial reference to jandk, i will apologize if you got offended i know its a painful topic to discuss, as far as my pakistani heritage goes, interesting facts I will tell you is that i qualify for an indienne passport too through my gramps after all and then i shall accumulate more identities muahahaha ,
nah i am just kidding though I am seriously sorry about the colonial reference, i have gotten pretty desensitized about being politically incorrect after being on this forum for only 2 months.

I have appologized , i was politically incorrect and being racist. I know being on this forum makes me feel like an outsider sometimes, its so difficult to adjust to a pakistani identity and when you discuss something people already assume you know everything about every event , look i try my best to give a balance review but people are right, until I dont visit its not the same thing eh!!!!. The thing is I want a backpacking trip across the Hindakush mountain, so I could visit most of subcontinent however visa restrictions and people saying that backpacking is not a good idea currently in pakistan and inde due to insurgency though bangladesh and bhutan are still on my books .

Indian kids already learn multiple languages in school. Non Hindi speakers study three languages(mother tongue, Hindi, English) in school. So, there is no room for any other foreign language apart from English. I studied Hindi, English and Sanskrit during my school days.

english should be purged out of india. its a colonialist language. a civilization as old as india's should not speak such a third rate language as a main form of communication.
india's biggest problem is we didn't give blood for our freedom. to fully appreaciate independence and nationhood, it is necessary to bleed for the nation. india is quite unfortunate in this regard

no need to apologize mate. You are right in some sense that french were better to us than british. But most french are really surpised to know most of south asian do not actually hate british (the same way french are hated in their colonies).
May be because british are more pragmatic, they can sense the way wind is blowing, much in advance.

English is an excellent language. May be you should remove your colonial mindset and learn whichever language you like.
I want to learn spanish though.

As a Frenchie I am very happy with this, like I said India is very much loved in France and both our nations have a rich history and culture.

France and India have a relationship that is based on solid foundations and I would go so far as to say is almost unbreakable. Fair to say that India is almost number 1 in France in the public mind and the best thing is both nations have great food lol.

France is one of three nations helping India with the super fast trains as well and I hope the Indian pays know that our tech is awesome when it comes to design and safety.

Thank you India for being good friends and long may or friendship live on.

The French-Ind ties will get strengthen in coming future. There are many fields like tech, science where these two powers can seek greater co-operation.

The another, obvious reasons are 1)130 billion $ worth Indian nuclear market. France wants a large share of it. It already has some share of market(Jaitapur Plant).

2) India's status as rising economic power. Trade with India will benefit France.

Given all these reasons, it is natural that France is trying to boost its ties with us. The concerned festival is part of it, in my opinion.

We should ensure that we get benefit from this ties. It would be better, in my opinion, if we seek french assistance on AMCA.
