The Bolivian Ministry of Defence (MoD) has confirmed that it is receiving 31 newly built Shaanxi Baoji Special Vehicles Company China Tiger 4x4 light armoured vehicles, marking the first armoured personnel carrier (APC) procurement for Bolivia since 1979.
IHS Jane's first reported the sale of the China Tiger - a high-mobility, all-weather vehicle that can carry up to nine fully equipped infantrymen and a crew of two - on 27 July.
Bolivia's MoD and the Chinese Embassy signed an agreement extending up to RMB50 million (approximately USD7.7 million) in military aid for the Bolivian Armed Forces. The MoD confirmed that these funds were used to provide the vehicles, which are to be officially handed over to the military on 29 July.
