Boeing Ready to 'Make in India' fighter plane

If they allow us integration of Indian and Israelli missiles and avionics from other nations. Then why not. A very good choice if we go by economics.

Why Israeli if we r getting ameereki:what:. It's doubtful , israeli avionics to be better than ameereki . and israel missile integration with American avionics may not be a problem cause they are already using f 15

Because firstly amreeki are not going to give the source code for their Aesa..
Secondly you need to keep giving them present status of their weapons in our inventory...

I'm actually not against this one. They have systematically built a manufacturing presence for Long term with partners like Tata instead of just letting HAL take blue print and build like France has been doing. This might be an extremely intelligent, long term partnership option with good results for the Indian Industry in general. Very foresightful of them.

What Boeing May 'Make In India': Fighter Plane, Choppers
Choppers are likely to happen if India places significant follow-on orders for the Apaches and Chinooks- with the IA getting its own fleet of Apaches this looks likely.

The fighter jet production line is pie in the sky stuff, he is saying it for the sake of it- no one is going to rule out such avenues in his position but it simply isn't going to happen UNLESS Boeing shifts the entire production line to India to meet third party orders. There is simply NO way the IAF is going to induct 2 different types of fighters for the same requirement- MMRCA, anything thinking they will is living in a fantasyland.

Once the Rafale deal is signed that is that- no hope for anyone else.

@migflug

By avionics I meant French. I don't know if they are better that what US may offer, but I know that we have French ones in our mkis.If the French ones turn out to be better, why not adopt them?

And for missiles , because it will be an advantage. As India will use a very large number of pythons and Derby for the Tejas fleet, it will be more economical to integrate these on to the F18s if they come. Than to order a separate number if Aim9/120 missiles.

Once the Rafale deal is signed that is that- no hope for anyone else.

The question is if Rafale deal is signed. If it is then we have 100+ Rafales for sure. If not. Then a mixture of F18s and Su35s are very good.

Mixture of too many different fighters will be mantainence nightmare , better go for F16IN offer and build in numbers in INDIA

I agree that Rafale plus another model will be inefficient, but since no one is going to order more hornets anywhere in the world, offering to shift the entire production to India isn't exactly a bad idea for them. Hornet is otherwise technically a 'end of lifecycle' product.

I dont get it.

When mmrca tender was floated decade ago, boieng and lockheen martin both participated knowing that planes are supposed to be built in india according to the tender. It means they were ready for make in india decade ago itself, yet india rejected them and went with rafale.

And then what is new in this news again if boeing wants to manufacture f-18 in india ? What is the dfference between previous offer and this one ?

The key issue with F 16 and 18 were that the IAF thought their airframe designs were too old to allow further 'evolution'. Rafale getting stuck on 'Make in India' area, I think their attractiveness might have gone up again.

Why dont Airbus and Boeing build civilian aircraft factories in India? Would make much more sense since India is a huge market for narrow body jets.

Why not shift the LCA production line to TASL + Boeing. They might be sharing same engines for a start in near future. Expand production line to make both fighters LCA + F18. Its make sense when he said transfer of "production system", with which we are still struggling.
Super hornets are considered new with changes made to it over the C/D versions. US will still be operating these birds well after 2030's.

You say mixture of too many fighters will be nightmare and then suggest that we should go for F16, if we can go for American, then why not go for the better one..... F18 E/F?

integration with American avionics may not be a problem
We will need to sign agreements we do not want to sign.

Hm...what if Boeing agrees to put up a line from LCA with TATA in India. AND agrees to bring in technology. That will be interesting.

It's a good deal, so the next aircraft carrier would be with US technology.

'Boeing joins with a 100 billion dollar Indian conglomerate to produce spy planes' reminds a british @$$hole of Michael Foot? Why I wonder? Because he's a moron who somehow thinks a massive Indian conglomerate cannot help build spy planes?
