BOEING LAMENTS TRADE RESTRICTIONS WHICH HINDER SALES

By Geoffrey Thomas
July 03, 2022

Boeing
Boeing is lamenting the trade restrictions which are hindering sales of new aircraft to one of its biggest customers – China.

This week Airbus was able to tout an order for 292 of its A320 family series in a major win.

In response, Boeing said: “Today’s announcement is an example of how constructive dialogue between governments encourages job creation and the other benefits that result from open aerospace markets. As a top U.S. exporter with a 50-year relationship with China’s aviation industry, it is disappointing that geopolitical differences continue to constrain U.S. aircraft exports.

“We continue to urge a productive dialogue between the governments given the mutual economic benefits of a thriving aviation industry. Boeing aircraft sales to China historically support tens of thousands of American jobs, and we are hopeful orders and deliveries will resume promptly.”

Boeing has almost $10 billion worth of aircraft that have been produced and ready for delivery to airline customers in China, which are expected to be delivered this year once COVID restrictions in China are lifted.

Traditionally China has split its business between the US and Europe but the trade war with the US has seen that severely disrupted.

Boeing disappointed after China’s top three airlines buy 300 Airbus planes

Boeing Co said on Friday “it is disappointing that geopolitical differences continue to constrain U.S. aircraft exports” while responding to China’s three biggest state-owned airlines buying 300 jets from European plane maker Airbus SE. The U.S. plane maker added that it continued to urge a productive dialogue between the U.S. and China governments.

The order comes as China has yet to certify the C919 jet from its national aircraft manufacturer Comac, which is intended to compete with the Airbus 320 and Boeing 737 MAX. According to Comac, 815 of the aircraft have been ordered by Chinese companies.
This could be China's last mega purchase of foreign jetliners and Boeing missed this fortune.

Yes, China will copy the technology from what it has bought already. Good luck!
Yeah, every tech China got is stolen from your US and the West as Trump said !

Does the COMAC ARJ21 remind you of any other plane? :D
All airplanes look similar, don't they ? Does one has to design a car of 5 or 3 wheels if someone already had designed 4 wheels one to look different ? How can Chinese that easily copy or steal all those high techs that are kept secret in American closets ? But, engines of those two airplanes are imported from US for now.

Boeing Blames Geopolitical Differences On Constrained Exports To China

The aircraft manufacturer is pointing fingers at the US-China trade war following Friday's snubbing.

On Friday, Airbus set a record-breaking order, securing a deal for 292 narrowbody jets, including 100 A320neos for China Eastern Airlines alone.

Air China, Shenzhen Airlines, and China Southern Airlines ordered 64, 23, and 96 of the type, respectively, including 19 more via lease agreements for China Southern.

The announcement was a significant hit for Boeing, with China Southern previously being the manufacturer’s biggest customer; however, trade disagreements and continued grounding of the 737 MAX series have led to declining orders.

“As a top US exporter with a 50-year relationship with China’s aviation industry, it is disappointing that geopolitical differences continue to constrain US aircraft exports,” noted the company in a statement on Friday.

“We continue to urge a productive dialogue between the governments given the mutual economic benefits of a thriving aviation industry. Boeing aircraft sales to China historically support tens of thousands of American jobs, and we are hopeful orders and deliveries will resume promptly.”

Boeing is currently storing around 150 undelivered 737 MAX family jets for Chinese airlines as the aircraft awaits recertification within the country. In June, China Southern restarted test flights with the model, raising hopes that China may lift its restrictions on the jet shortly.

The MAX’s re-entry to service within the lucrative market largely hinges on carriers completing aircraft modification, pilot training, and various other logistics before the type can see commercial flights. While progress has already been slow, China’s shift towards Airbus may slow things further.

However, questions have been raised regarding whether Airbus will be able to fill the demand within a short enough timeframe, which could lead to swifter recertification of the MAX and a rewarming of Boeing and China’s relationship. The European aircraft manufacturer has noted a slowdown in deliveries due to constraints with the global supply chain, significantly below its monthly target. Airbus currently has an order backlog of almost 6000 A320 family jets.

LOL. I do not think giving examples of cars that are obviously and blatantly copied is a good example here. :D

Since 2021, Airbus has delivered 197 vs just 4 for Boeing. Boeing is in a deep shit, literally.

The whole process of the development of the humanity is copying each other, You didn't expect that everything US made was just invented by US themselves, did you? the history of the humanity is much longer than that of USA.

The answer was an intentional nosedive by the pilot, but a satisfactory answer is it is somebody’s fault other than China’s.
