Sir, I don't really know where you've got this from. The IAF isn't facing any real long-term spending difficulties purely this current 18-24 month period that began in the second quarter of 2012. By Q2-2015 the slight issues the Indian military is facing on spending should be a memory. By 2015 the Indian economy will be growing back around the 6-7% mark.

As such follow-on orders for C-17s are an almost certainty the only question is-how many? The speculation seems to be 6-12 more but we'll have to wait and see.

Mate, 2015 is a long way to go and with the Indian inflation, the unsure finacial situation in the western countries and the US close to bankruptcy every 3 month, you can't make real predictions for 2 years in future. Moreover, investors will remain tied up and won't spend too much money in foreign, more risky markets at the moment, one reason why FDI is low at the moment.

Did I missed any news about negotiating on follow orders in the last months? If not the fact that Boeing has to close the production line will pose a problem for follow orders, since it's limits the time for our decisions and as we all know, everything needs time in India. Not to forget that the biggest problem for negotiations remains to be the price!
