8 supporters of Nizami held while buying votes

Eight activists and supporters of Jamaat-e-Islami chief Motiur Rahman Nizami, who is contesting for Pabna-1 constituency, were arrested while trying to buy votes early this morning.

Witnesses said local people detained the Jamaat men including Nizami's former private assistant Shafiqul Islam at about 2:45am as they were buying votes at a village under Shathia upazila.

The locals later handed them over to Shathia Police Station.
