well same can be said about Chicago of the 1930s....same can be said today of parts of Rio de Janeiro or even the Anacostia region of Washington DC which is also always having murders, gang violence and robberies and stuff
but for a country that calls itself Islamic Republic, I think the most Islamic thing to do would be for more pressure to be put on police to increase street patrols and presence. Shoot on sight orders should be given to those who display arms and/or pose threat to locals
if i were in charge of Karachi, i would totally ban the display of any flag that is not the Pakistani flag. I get so annoyed seeing these nincompoops run around in the colours of their political party.
it's sad because some of the brightest people I have met are Karachiites; some of the most sophisticated, intelligent, funny and hospitable people.....people who know how to have a damn good time. There are so many hidden treasures there, it's an incredible incredible city overall with brave people who have a lot of stories to share. But being the financial capital, being the ''Little Pakistan'' --- there are certain standards and conditions that should be especially applied there.
and this type of stuff cannot be happening in a city like Karachi.....I say take the gloves off, impose section-44 and clean up every damn nook and cranny in that city.
i dont care what activists come and complain; where are they when rogue MQM/ANP/PPP youth-activists are acting like hooligans and gangters with their hand signs and gang colours
like i said, massive cleanup operation required in Karachi. Sooner its done, the better.

Oh and a lot of criminal elements who were caught when questioned blamed poverty and a lack of jobs for their crimes
more often than not, in many parts of the world this is often the case
