Easy for us to say mate.

We don't know what goes on the ground in pakistan. Nor how much support TTP has in the public. Or the exact matrix of geo political strategy, electoral politics affect their decision making.

The problem is Military bases, Ranger bases & so on are poorly protected. Walls are small & light material has been used in making the boundaries, plus there is not enough space between the bases & civilians, Worse than that all or most the bases are now inside densely populated areas.
