This is a good and significant development

That's not completely true. US courts, as well as Canadian courts have declared mqm to be a terror/criminal organization. The governments don't do anything about it, because it would embarrass the UK, a key ally of the US and Canada, as well as a host for Altaf Hussien, leader of the mqm.

It would also be a problem for Pakistan, as the third largest political party (PPP), as well as its allies are also supporters of mqm. The fear is that an official designation would end with the US forcing Pakistan to take action against mqm, which could cause problems for everyone involved, including the US, as MQM has a huge presence in Karachi, and US troops in Afghanistan get their supplies through Karachi ports and roads.

All of a sudden, all pseudo liberals of Pakistan, who were quietly supporting BLA terror causes, will go quiet. Obviously they dont have balls to protest outside US embassy.

The aman ki asha pseudo liberal brigade were riding high during the Zardari and Nawaz Sharif era. Corruption was rampant and they made big bucks through their fake NGOs and large bribe sums. That has come to an abrupt end suddenly. Their frustration is visible on a daily basis through MSM.

US move to blacklist the BLA will also go a very long in shutting up India and Afghanistan. The aman ki asha brigade is going to have a tough time supporting the likes of BLA and PTM.

This announcement should not be taken lightly. It has massive implications.

The US State Department said it was classifying the BLA as a global terrorist group, making it a crime for anyone in the United States to assist the militants and freezing any US assets they may have.

Also :

India can no longer say that the BLA are freedom fighters, and this will also make it harder for New Delhi to support them materially and financially.

A step in the right direction. Appears the USA is shifting to a more balanced approach to the region.

This signals a large shift in USA South Asia strategy. It could be due to the combination factors. A USA desire to exit from Afghanistan. USA Iran tensions. Concerns arising from the February Indo-Pak confrontation.

As a I stated at the time. India hurt it's international image in February. It was war mongering with little evidence of Pakistani state involvement in Pulwama. Plus it's military performed poorly.

USA should be concerned that a one sided approach will embolden India into a miscalculation against Pakistan. Also, India shows little desire to confront China or put boots on the ground in Afghanistan. This limits Indias utility to the USA.
