The BSP president Mayawati on Saturday blasted the BJP for spreading communal venom in the country. She said that in BJP-ruled states communal forces had been strengthened and secular forces had been weakened.

Reviewing the BSP’s poll preparations in Madhya Pradesh, Chattisgarh, Rajasthan and Haryana in Lucknow on Saturday, Mayawati called up on the cadre to be vigilant of machination of communal elements.

She said weakening of secular fabric was not in the interest of the nation.

Mayawati also finalized some names of the candidates for forthcoming assembly elections in MP, Chattisgarh and Rajasthan. The leaders from these states apprised her of the functioning of their respective units and electoral preparedness. In view of the elections Mayawati directed them to boost organizational activities.

Pointing out that performance of BJP-ruled states was dismal, Mayawati said: "Even NDA government’s record was also not satisfactory."

She recalled that during NDA regime efforts were made to amend the Constitution, which was opposed by the BSP. The BSP chief directed the leaders to reach out to grassroots level in BJP-ruled states to expose the governments’ failure on all fronts.

However Mayawati, who has extended outside support to Congress-led UPA government, did not spare the centre for its utter failure. Mayawati said that anti-people’s policies, rampant corruption and various scams had led to widespread resentment among the people.

She said UPA’s attitude towards the Muslims had also been quite disheartening. Even other sections including farmers, labourers, traders and working class had been facing massive problems because of wrong policies.

Youth are extremely disappointed from the central government, Mayawati said, adding that election strategy would be chalked out keeping the prevailing situation in sight.

Emphasizing on welfare of “sarva samaj”, Mayawati said the party leaders should be fully geared up for Lok Sabha and assembly elections in MP, Chattisgarh and Rajasthan.

She said instead of solely depending on media, the party leaders should directly reach out to the people to widen the base. Pointing out that BSP had strong base in UP and now efforts should be made to widen reach in the three states going to poll later this year.
