‘Bill to ban Jamaat on way’

@somebozo @darkinsky @SHAMK9 @Redbull

and....

this video shows a Pakistani lady (a politician) who along with her father spoke out against the atrocities in Bangladesh (east Pakistan) in 1971 by Yahya Khan's soldiers, Asma Jahangir.

Asma lays in to the Jamatis.

*Though I don't agree with everything that's said there e.g. the Kafir name calling.

Ban the f**k out of these terrorists :sniper: wipe them from the earth

@Hammer-fist

I blame India for 'forcely evacuating'-Dr Israr's words- these degenerates into Pakistan and Bangladesh and making problems for them.

Why these idiots have to come there if they don't believe in partition :hitwall:

If anyone doesn't fully understand what Redbull is saying.

He is referring to the fact that Maudoodi (the founder of Jamat) opposed the creation of Pakistan and apparently called it "Kafiristan" or something. @somebozo can perhaps expand on that.

By the way Mujib despite all his faults campaigned and struggled for Pakistan.

Anyway upon Pakistan being created Maudoodi and his followers then became "Pakistani nationalists".

If Jamat e "Islami" is banned in Bangladesh then it will have an impact on Pakistanis including liberals who may question whether it should also be banned in Pakistan itself.

I think they only became 'Pakistani nationalists' because the Pakistani governments gave into their demands of making Ahmedi non-Muslim and making it an Islamic republic, when realy, they should have sent them to Afghanistan.

I hope your right about the liberals.

Pakistan experienced Zia-isation in the 80s.

Then in the 90s it had the PPP and Nawaz, until 1999. There was no major problem from radicalism though the Sipah i Sahaba terrorists were active and the Taliban were supported by some elements.

In the 2000s after Musharraf's takeover the economy grew, terrorists such as the SSP were locked up where they belonged in jail.

Then from 2007 onwards coinciding with the Iftekhar Ahmed judge controversy the TTP exploded with suicide bombings left right and centre.

Prior to 2007, Pakistan was seen as a normal country. Musharraf was liked by nationalists (a good strong leader who cracked down on Shia-Sunni violence and invested in infrastructure with a growing economy). The war of terror was taking place but only affected remote Waziristan.

Post-2007 is when Pakistan has really suffered from Taliban violence (the same Taliban, M_Saint supports. M_Saint also hates Musharraf) and Pakistani intellectuals and common people have argued about what has gone wrong? What is the nature and destiny of their country and also the role of Islam (a beautiful religion, though hijacked by thugs) and its relationship with the state. Pakistan is asking itself these questions and most educated Pakistanis now curse Zia-isation.

What the liberals will do against Jamat, I don't know but it is for Pakistanis to decide.

We wish them the best.

(*Though it's clear who I would support in Pakistan between moderates and Jamatis) :D

.
that a bill seeking a ban on the Jamaat-e-Islami and its student wing would be placed in the current parliament in line with the demand of the ongoing nationwide mass movement.

Congratulations to all Bangladeshis - make this happen, Pakistan will never have courage to do this, it gives me no pleasure to say this but Pakistan have decided that they will limp along while the rest of world sprints.

Hammerfist I see a wide knowledge in u.
If u can bring forward moudidism in islam. I heard that moudidi who founded jamat doesnt fully implicate the actual islam.
They follow some rules which is different than islam and opposes some basic things.
Like they said Quran is not enough for najat.

If Bangladesh bans the Jamat then the following will take place.

1. The Pakistani branch of the party will feel partially amputated and will feel demoralize and will realize that if it happens in Bangladesh it can happen in Pakistan.

2. The intelligentsia in Pakistan will definitely at least entertain the idea of banning the Jamat, who by the way are hated by many of the Islamic scholars there e.g. Deobandis, Barelvis, Ahlee Hadith etc.

3. The Jamat may (may not) feel the need to moderate itself to avoid a Bangladesh-style closure (if that ever did happen).

However as far as I am concerned this is an internal Pakistani matter and for Pakistanis to decide, so I won't say too much.

Earlier in another thread you said that JI was not going to be banned. Now, you've made a u-turn. Your sources are all fvcked up.

@Hammer-fist

This is a stupid move on part of sheikh hasina.

Even if we ignore the trouble making potential of jammat,it would be a politically stupid move.

If jamat is banned and its followers join BNP then the vote share of BNP would increase also BNP would get some readymade cadre. It would result in BNP gaining more seats on it's own and in first past the poll system could result in disproportionate increase in seats.

Why would sheikh hasina want to unite her opponents?A divided opposition is better for her.

She should stop taking advice from loser Indian national congress even though she has good relations with INC.

1. The Awami League's most important concern is power.

They are politicians. There are apparently more rezakars in the Awami League than in any other party. The AL are also more unscrupolous so things such as war crimes, banning Jamat etc all come second to the "need" to be in power.

Thus I am sure they have done their calculations and realized that banning Jamat will ultimately increase their popularity/vote show and win the next elections.

2. Whatever they do, I doubt it will work as I have been informed by my sources, that the BNP (barring a coup) will form the next government.

3. Jamat are an evil organization hated in Bangladesh and even by some/many in Pakistan. So banning them will be seen as a great victory and in continuation and in the spirit of the 1971 war. Bangladeshis all over the country will celebrate this.

4. The BNP is run by sensible people who have more freedom to be flexible in dealings with India as they do not carry the stigma of being "Indian-dalals" which the Awami League has. I am of the opinion Bangladesh-India relations will continue on the trajectory they are on now and we will have a healthy trading relationship with each other.

If I had to vote for either the BNP or Awami League, I would vote for the BNP.

You are underestimating the power of corruption. The corruption that i am talking about is not the one that is done by officials but a more subtle and omnipresent and omnipotent type which is corruption of character which large swath of population suffers from.

Indian politicians have fine tuned the art of bribing voters with mixer grinders and laptops for votes.

AL could bribe it's way to power and is well placed to do so also as it do not have a right wing/urban middle class/conservative vote block to pander to.

Also because of the very reason that AL is power hungry,i believe that nothing would come out of this banning ordinance.

Jamat has several benefits for Hasina.

1.It keeps right wing block divided.Even when fighting as a coalition,it is difficult for supporters of a party to vote for another one.

2.Jammat could become a source of highly motivated cadre which would be licking it's would and would be highly dangerous.

3.Jammat's funding source would become part of BNP thus increasing it's war chest.

4.Jamat provides a cause-celebre for AL.With jamat gone it would lose an important emotional rallying point.

5.Jamatis would provide muscle to BNP at national level.

Thus it is highly doubtful that Sheikh hasina is serious about banning jamat. She probably is trying to test waters and engineer an schism between BNP and Jamat by forcing BNP to take stand against them.

3. Jamat are an evil organization hated in Bangladesh and even by some/many in Pakistan. So banning them will be seen as a great victory and in continuation and in the spirit of the 1971 war. Bangladeshis all over the country will celebrate this.

Politics is not done by emotions.

Unless someone has communal reasons,it is natural for Bangladesh and India to have a healthy relationship.A lot of stuff peddled on this forum is insane bullsh1t.A year ago some poster has started a thread regarding "Whether Bangladesh should try mineral exploration as India is turning BD into a desert" while ignoring that Bangladesh receives rainfall of the magnitude of equatorial rain forest and thus cannot be converted into desert even if India stops all water and mineral exploration is pointless for Bangladesh as it's bedrock is buried under miles of alluvial soil.
